Why the apparent shortage of ladies rolex for sale on secondary market?
Seems to be easier to find Men's watches almost 10:1.
Women buy/given one, keep for sentiment? Guys are chronic flippers, sellers?

Perhaps women are less likely to be flippers?

Women are more into handbags and purses and shoes, that resale market probably mirrors watches for men more.

Yeah I've noticed that, I wonder what the annual sales are compared to men's watches.

Hmmm... not sure where you're looking, yet there are many used women's Rolex timepieces on the market.
Man bags, not so much. Think they are all stuck back in 1995. Could be worse, go try and find some parachute, or Z Cavaricci, pants.

Women seem much less likely to buy on the secondary market as well. I've been trying to sell a couple of the wife's Omegas at steep discount to no avail.

I think it's because the resale is so bad. When I bought my wife a second one (31 mm) I checked the market for the first (26 mm) and it was only worth between $1500-2000. For that much I'm saving it to give to my daughter when she gets older.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I think women tend to keep their valuable stuff.

I refuse to take the bait on this question.
OP, if you are looking for a deal, I think the forum sellers can source you just about anything you want. |

Women tend to wear all sizes from 26-44mm DSSDs now so the observation does not really take that into account. I am sure there are several sport models that were previously owned by women that traded them in on PM pieces.

Hopefully you knew I was half joking.... Ladies like her are extremely rare so color me quite lucky.
Back ON topic ladies do tend to keep their jewelry such as watches... unless a bad breakup or financial need. Come to think about it, have bought around four timepieces for my wife. Just glad she likes pretty-looking Swatch watches though now loves / wears the Samsung Gear S2 4Glte.

Considering that a man does not have a lot of choices on acres stories etc.. I would think that men tend to flip watches much more than women do... I know a lot of women who got a very nice watch when they were quite young and have since kept it for decades to come...
A good analogy would be to think of men's jewellery in the second hand market versus women's jewellery in the second hand market.. Then it starts making much more sense! |

Have asked my wife many times if she wants to flip hers but the answer is always no and the reason is always the same. Too much sentimental value. There is a forum seller here that seems to always have a reasonable number or 26mm and 31mm in the for sale section.

As for the OP's question, I guess most there are more male WIS than female; women are more into shoes and handbags.

this is a great question. ive been wanting to get my wife a 31mm black roman jubilee 178240. all the 31mm watches i see sellers seem to be asking $5k+ for a used 6-7 year old watch that costs $6300 retail before discounts. it is a head scratcher for sure. either the asking prices are not really were they trade or the preowned women's Rolex market is that strong (or there are fools being separated from their money). anyone have any insight? further, what kind of discount can i expect on a SS 31mm women's watch at an AD?

Yep. Because most are like my wife and don't think twice about digging in the garden or doing laundry or throwing it in a drawer. My wife just never wore her DJ. She likes the cheapie watches and I just got her a Tudor she seems to enjoy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
