Diver will not start up

Over the weekend my I series diver will stop working from not wearing it. However the watch will not startup again when I wear it again. Regardless of the time, I can wear it for couple of days still the watch will move a few seconds when I shake it vigorously then stop again. I can get it start by rotating the crown when adjusting the time.
Is it normal? All my other automatic watches start up within a few minutes of wearing.

Did you try winding it with 50 turns?

If I use the crown to wind up, just 5 turns will get the watch start moving.
I just don't understand why wearing or rotating the 'golden wheel' hundreds of round which should wind up the watch will not start it.

Wind it up by turning the crown as mentioned above, about 40 turns will suffice. Then just wear it and the selfwinding rotor will keep it winded. Do this whenever the watch has stopped completely.

Thank you. I can do that and continue using it. But just wondering the non start up from winding using the rotor is a issue that I should get the service centre to look into.

If you wind it 40 turns and after this you wear it every day and it goes ok I wouldn't do anything, but if issues continue in some form or another then yes I would

Thank you.
I will continue to enjoy wearing it.
Still wondering if there is any technical explanation to the non startup.

Wind it fully — a good 40-50 full turns of the crown — and leave it off your wirst, making a note of the time.
It should stop in around 60 hours, which if it does (give or take a couple), then it means all is well with the mainspring.
On the presumption that this is going to be the case, you either have an issue with the winding mechanism or you're simply not active enough to wind the watch, and keep it wound.
If the latter, then you'll have to just move your arm more throughout the day or manually wind it 20-30 turns before wearing it.

Manufacturers usually advise you to wind a mechanical manually before wearing if it is stopped. I always do this, and even then on one of mine (Rolex GMT IIc), I still have to give it a few flicks of the finger to get it started. Once moving it's fine, keeps good time and runs to its rated reserve time, no worries here.
