Basel 2016 Daytona YG Green Dial
I was at the South Coast Plaza Rolex boutique (operated by Barry Leeds?? Not sure how much vol these guys move normally) and noticed the new rolex green dial yg daytona in a glass case. Its the first time seeing it and was quite nice. Tried to take a pic for you guys but they were pretty strict on stating a no pic policy.
Did not expect too much from them, but the sales associate did not seem too interested in gaining my business. The answers to my question were that the watch would be sold at msrp and they have no reason to discount when they can find plenty of people willing to buy at sticker. It also sounded like they had received a couple 116500LNs recently. My wife wanted to see the wg cellini with diamond bezel, and when she asked the rep why rolex wouldn't do a clear caseback the response was priceless. The associate stated that clear casebacks are not designed because the watch contains an automatic movement |

This store has probably the best selection in the west coast, but the workers give the place a bad vibe. Soon as you walk in with a PM watch, you can tell the salespeople are ready to jump over the counter and offer a Diet Coke and a Pearlmaster you didn't even ask to see. In this day and age who doesn't let you take a pic of a Rolex at the store? Maybe it would help their decision in their next purchase and ask others of their opinions before buying.
The sales people here act like robots and don't cater to WIS. Just another South Coast Plaza store made to accommodate beating Asian tourist over the head. |

Didn't care much for their service since I have a strong relationship with my AD back home, but again who knows. If they were eager to strike a deal with me I woild have been willing to play. |

On the flip side, I had a rather pleasant experience at the Tourneau Patek corner.
Very friendly sales rep and we talked watches for quite a while even though he knew I wouldn't be purchasing today. Even though I really dislike Tourneau's service for other brands, all of their patek reps have been nothing but courteous, just too bad we cam never reach an agreement on price. |

Too bad the real brand ambassadors i.e the salespeople were not as courteous or cared. Unfortunately, with such a big brand like Rolex, they may not have everyone who are into the watch as a WIS

I think a lot of times we confuse clerks with trained sales associates. When I get a clerk some silliness soon follows.

In a place like the South Coast Plaza I def would have expected a well trained staff that represent the brand well.

Both of the new gold ones are absolutely beautiful. I wonder if the blue one would look cool with a blue ceramic bezel, or if it would just be too blue. Hmm...
