Importance of Ceramic Bezel? Need Help!

Hey everyone!

I'm deciding on an AP ROO, and I am undecided between the 42mm models ie. the Navy Themes vs. the 44m 26400 with ceramic bezel. I know any dents and scratches would be far more pronounced on the steel bezel, but to what extent?

Would appreciate any insight and/or pictures!

Night and Day. A brush of the RO bezel on a door jamb or likewise will result in a visible mark. Same thing with a ceramic and no mark unless you really get at it, in which case get your wallet out.

I do prefer the classic look of the SS bezel though as with ceramic, the screws are less subtle.

I would say go with the 26400. It's absolutely beautiful especially with that brushed ceramic bezel and those rectangular chrono pusher. The bezel is well capable of taking some slight knocks and bumps with no scratch. Btw do get those of i series and up models otherwise you wouldn't be getting those beautifully brushed bezel for h and below. Any earlier than an I series 26400 would be having a more to Matt bezel instead having a well vertical brush ones.

Have had both. The problem with the ceramic is the thin edges. Couple good knocks and it will chip. I also managed to scratch it. Opted for the 42 do to the size. Yes it scratches and dents but replacement cost is a quarter of the price. But if size doesn't matter 44 all day.

The SS AP will scratch. It's unavoidable and it will be noticeable.

I opted for the 44 RG and after 2 years of wearing it, the bezel is flawless.

Agree with the post above. Definitely go for the Ceramic Bezel ROO 44mm unless price is an issue. Much more lasting and better wrist presence.

My Diver's bezel has plenty of scratches; my 42 mm ROO Navy (now gone) had scratches on its bezel; my 44mm SS ROO has none. The bezel still looks pristine. To me, this is real proof that ceramic bezels work.

Thank you everyone for your input! I plan on buying from a trusted seller, but have never done this before. What is considered a fair offer? 15% less than their listing price?

The difference between the two is much more than which would scratch. The price of the two is a huge difference. Somewhat like 10k difference. So that being said if you have the money for the 44mm Ceramic and want to spend it all on your AP than get the 44mm AP as its a superior watch as most will tell you. Personally i like the 42mm version more and don't see the extra money worth it to get the 44mm Ceramic.

As well as the scratching, the new brushed lines of the 44s as Alex's great pic shows is impeccable and more interesting than SS to mine eye.

I don't mind the money to a certain extent, as I'll be buying it from a trusted seller, so the difference becomes closer to ~4k. I guess I just need to try both on and see, which one sings to me

Ceramic bezel is a HUGE difference. My first ROO was a Panda and loved it, but I have owned probably ~ half a dozen ROOs after that and all had ceramic bezels. Couldn't deal with the hairlines and whatnot on that finely finished bezel.

I own a Diver, 15400 and a 44 and have to say the 44 stays on my wrist way longer just because I feel safer knowing it won't scratch. Took me two week with the Diver to scratch the bezel. Thats why I only wear the 15400 on special occasions. Go for the 44 less stress!
