Since it's pretty tough to find a good prime rib in NYC so I always stop for prime rib at Lawrys in Chicago.
Gene & Georgetti's has pretty good steaks but nothing special compared to NYC steakhouses |

I'm an expatriate so there are probably other more recent places but Gibson's is always good.

Oh, and any place that serves Allen Brothers meats. Best steak I ever had was home BBQ'd Allen Bros. dry aged NY strip. Best ever. https://www.allenbrothers.com/allen-...rant-partners/

Chicago Cut on LaSalle Street is excellent and one of my favorites there. Of course there are so many but I'd give this one a try.

With my work, I "have-to" eat at these places a lot all over the country.....and get REALLY tired of it.
In Chicago you have.... Morton's, Flemmings's, Capital Grill, Mastro's, Gibson's, Ruth's Chris, Gene & Georgetti's, Chop House, Smith & Wollensky's, Shula's, etc, etc.....blah blah blah.... I know I sound like my grand-parents now, but.... I like PRIME-RIB way more than Steak....so I still like going to Lawry's Prime-Rib over the past 40 years. The place is dated, but I really don't care about "Fine-Dining" anymore.... http://www.lawrysonline.com/lawrys-primerib/chicago I would rather eat Shushi or Pizza when I'm not hauling customers around. |

I prefer Gibsons mostly for the fact that their desserts are incredible and massive. Their macadamia turtle pie could be my favorite thing on Earth.
Dark horse pick for me is David Burke's Primehouse. They age steaks to lengths that you normally don't see, up to 75 days, in a Himalayan salt room. It makes the steak have an intense beef flavor. Almost like game. Definitely something to try if you want unique. |
