Subs and Suits

Ok gang,
I'm typically one to avoid wearing dive watches and suits. Not as much because it's against a fashion rule, but because I tend lean toward other options that seem to fit/look better.

I went to go swap my Hulk for my GMTC which was in my safe. Looked down and thought to myself. Boy have I been missing out.

So what's the verdict? Do Subs go with Suits or just of the diving variety?

You can wear any Rolex with a suit. You can wear some Rolex watches with a tux. Just my opinion.

I think the "voting" here will fall along age lines in that some of a certain age will say it's ok while some of a certain, older, age will say it's not...

I am of the older camp, have a Sub and a DJ and would always opt for the DJ with a suit/jacket - shirt tie...

Not that the Sub is wrong but more so that the DJ is , imo, right...

Sub or Sub Date I don't have a problem with, as for a green Sub Date to me it looks odd.

What a beautiful and striking piece. I love how the dial looks black at times and bright green other times.

I wore my 14060 with a suit for a job interview just yesterday. Rolex goes with anything.

Absolutely. Purists will diagree, but personally, I feel almost any Rolex will work with a suit.

thanks and i hope the interview brings you what you're hoping for.

as eric says above, purists will disagree....but, then, everyone has opinions and the only one i listen to when it comes to suits & watches is my own.

Sure you can, I try not to. Well tailored suit, nice shoes and belt..... dive watch. Just doesn't do it for me.

A nice watch on a leather strap will always look better with a suit.

Business causal and that's a different story. Definitely works.

Looks great! I pretty much wear my sub with anything that floats my boat from dinner suit to shorts and Chaco's. It's 2016 not many barriers left if you can't beat them join them.

That convention was broken a long time ago. Wear whatever you want with a suit. Wasn't it Bill Clinton who would wear his Timex Ironman with a suit?

I am deciding what to wear for my brother's wedding this Saturday (best man, wearing a tux). I will be downtown all weekend in a hotel. Friday we are taking the kids to the Zoo. I would really only like to take one watch with me. Since it is supposed to be HOT this weekend and I can adjust the sub's bracelet so easily I am leaning that way.

I would normally wear my Aqua Terra with any dress clothes, but I am really thinking the sub is best for versatility all weekend...

Realistically it will be under my cuff anyway, and I don't think anyone will see it.

You could wear a flower pot on your head if you wanted when wearing a suit, but it would be rather inappropriate and look foolish.

The same applies to wearing chunky watches that catch on the cuff. You can certainly wear them but it's not really a good idea.

Subs look good when worn with casual attire or preferably when in the water.

Regards

Mick

I've always liked the GMT dressed up. The PCLs are great with a dress shirt. It's a bit less chunky too. But the sub look is growing on me.

As Eric's great pic shows it works just fine, esp if you have matching cufflinks.

Does it work with a suit? Yes, Absolutely and it'll still look good while doing it. Do some Rolexes work better with a suit than a Sub? Yes, Absolutely.

What about the DSSD? I think that is one Rolex that definitely won't work with a suit or even business casual. The clunkiness and wording around the dial make it look too casual.
