Allergy to leather straps?
I am curious, I have never been the allergic type but with two straps in particular, both from the same manufacturer (Greg Stevens) my wrist goes on fire every time I wear them. First it happened with the Horween and I thought I was allergic to Horween. Then it started happening with his Crazy Horse II strap. I just put back the oem black leather, as I don't think I have allergies to those. But will see. This sucks because greg's were my favorites.
Any of you ever dealt with this? |

Chromium allergy? It's used in the tanning process of most leather straps.

Yeah probably not the skin but what is in/on it.
I just got over contact dermatitis from pulling rock wool while reconstructing the corner of my house... Good times. |

Reaction...
Hi guys! Figured I would check in. There are several things that can trigger an allergic reaction. A reaction to the products used in the tanning process, wearing the straps too tight, heat/sweating while wearing the straps, especially if the straps are worn tight. Sometimes the straps are just old and bacteria may have built up in the Ieather. I sell a lot of straps and while allergic reactions are pretty rare, they do occur. In almost every case I'm able to come up with a solution that is satisfactory for the customer. In the one case where we weren't able to find a solution, I refunded his money. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me, [email protected]. Thanks!

Thanks for the response Greg. My strap is pretty new, bought from you maybe three months ago. I also don't wear sweaty or too snug...so it must be an allergy to the tanning chemicals. Your crazy horse 2 is my favorite strap by far....I wouldn't mind throw in a few more bucks to get it somehow "lined". So, if you have any straps that you use a different tanning process or is some sort of hypoallergenic let me know.
This is kind of weird and new for me....after years of wearing watching this is a first. |

It happened to me with a couple of Greg's straps, especially the Olivo. Exactly like your picture. A shame. Greg's work is fantastic and his customer service is top notch. I figured it was just me and have since sold my PAM. For the record, I had the same issue with a strap from Micah (also awesome). I guess certain skin types are more sensitive than others.

You may want to try a rubber strap instead.
