Question about Yachtmaster date/material
My wife and I purchased a pair of matching YM's for our anniversary.
I have been reading about the YM, and have a few questions. Her watch is a 169623 serial number P884***, with original paperwork being sold on 8/20/2003. Country code on paperwork is 170 (Italy) and the AD name is in Italian. It's been to the RSC, and had an overhaul in 2014. My question is, from what I am reading, her watch, white dial, yellow gold and stainless (Rolesor) wasn't offered until 2005. So where are my wires getting crossed? I'm sure there is something that I am misunderstanding... |

I think you're wrong in assuming it first came out in 2005. Below link from Chrono where Milton offers one from 2004. The first hit from Chrono was a 2000's.
All looks in order to me. http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/169...-id4218705.htm

Thanks. I am not doubting what you are saying, as I am certain I don't have some special YM.
I guess I am just confused as to what the difference between "Two Tone" and "Rolesor" is. If someone can explain this, I would greatly appreciate it. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=40684 Quote:
I know just because it's posted on the Internet, doesn't make it true, but I have read this in more than one place. Below is the text from the C&C webpage. I have seen something very similar to this posted many places. https://www.crownandcaliber.com/watc...x/yacht-master Quote:

Rolesor = two tones (SS with YG / WG or RG) 29mm and 35mm rolesor YM were disclosed in 1997 , models 69623 and 68623. They were then renewed in 1999 as 169623 and 168623. In 2004 (not 2005) the new rolesor model was the 40mm 16623 only. ps: YMII was disclosed in 2007 , not 2010 as stated in your quote. |

Thanks for bringing the error on our Reference pages to our attention.. Apparently we used the introduction date for new Rolesor dials and failed to note that it was only dials and not the mid-size cases..

sorry for reviving an old thread. I am looking to get a 169623 for W, and I found one, but the seller has it listed as 1997 Model. Based on this thread and my research, it looks like the ones from 1997 are 69623 instead of the 169623.
Are there any difference with both models? |
