Tudor Pelagos.........any and all info is appreciated
Hi everyone,
I had my heart set on a GMT Batman.....however another watch has caught my eye. I recently opened the newest issue of "Outside " magazine, and the inside cover is an advertisement for a beautiful blue Tudor Pelagos. Prior to reading the magazine, I had neither seen nor heard about the Pelagos. The watch looks truly amazing and seems chock full of features. What is the general feeling about this watch from other forum members? At this point is it popular? Being that it is a Tudor, I assume that the RSC will service the watch? Is Tudor a true step down in quality verses Rolex? Is the warranty the sane between both brands? What type of price might I expect to pay? Thank you, Zack |

i have one and i love it. is it the same quality as a rolex? no. i wouldnt say its as good as a sub.
check out the below review and video. very informative. the clasp is great and the bezel as well. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/tudor-pe...-watch-review/ last thought, you can get a BBB and a pelagos for less than the cost of the BLNR.

I owned it. Flipped it.
An ok watch. I would say the colors and weight plus the blue on blue just felt too plasticy for me. I was almost like a toy watch. Also did not like that I could hear the movement when I moved my arm. Crown was also very flimsy feeling and had a weird crunching sound when wound. I've heard other say the same. If you are comparing ro the Batman there simply is no way to compare the two. Put them both on and your decision will be simple. Alos a very limiting watch with wjat you wear. Batman can be used when wearing anything. |

Opinion
I too was drawn in by the blue beauty. I flipped for one and had it for almost 4 months, wearing it along with my other 2 Rolexes. I tend to wear one for a week or so then fire another on the wrist.
I loved the lume. The watch itself was easy to read and looked great. What it lacked for me was weight. I is lighter than it looks. The bracelet and case I believe are titanium so it is light. Another annoyance to be was the bracelet tended to pull the hairs on my wrist as I like to wear them a bit loose. So in the end I flipped it for another that I had flipped to get my Daytona. In the end part of me wanted to keep it but I enjoy my Polar explorer II much more. |

Most accurate mechanical watch I have ever owned! My blue Pelegos gets more wrist time than my GMT-C, WG Daytona, or YG Sub. The Pelegos is worthy of having Rolex printed on the dial! |

I was drawn to the ETA model. I bought mine before Tudor re-entered the US market. With nowhere to try one on, I find a dealer in the US with a used model, LNIB. As soon as I put it on my wrist, I knew it was not the watch for me. Everything on paper sounded awesome, but it was just too big for me. Too thick, too much presence on the wrist, and I just didn't bond with it. The lume was great - the pseudo-Glidelock clasp seemed cool, but I couldn't get the right fit still. Off it went, in less than a week.
Pics are always a plus! Try before you buy! |

Great watch...absolutely love mine. The weight, adjustable clasp, legibility, mechanical time keeping (amazing power reserve!) all combine to make one heck of a watch for one heck of a bang for the buck.
Now, is it a Rolex? No, it's a Tudor. Completely different fit, feel and look on the wrist. My thought: I think it's a great add in to a collection for a change up, but not sure if I would bump a Rolex for one. |

It's a great watch! "Lower quality" than Rolex? I don't think so, especially with the Tudor in house movement. It's big but wears a lot smaller than it looks due to the slightly curved case.
If it's between those two I would vote BLNR in a heartbeat - but Pelagos could totally be the _next_ one you get. It's very "tool watch" if that's what you're looking for. For service you would send to an RSC. |

It's ok, but has some bad flaws...
1) Crown? Pretty terrible. Feels like it's going to strip out and it's gritty 2) Bracelet? Hair Puller. Sharp Edges. Clasp is adjustable, but still couldn't get it to fit right for whatever reason. Overall, bracelet sucks. Not even 10% as nice as the Submariner bracelet. A real disappointment. Had to wear it on a NATO before I got fed up and flipped it. |

Love Tudor, think it's a great brand and that they make wonderful watches and I would recommend one to anyone. That being said, you had your heart set on the BLNR and I would recommend that you go for that one first because ultimately that is the one you really wanted.

Just got mine yesterday and I'm a big fan. I did try it on a couple times though before I pulled the trigger so I knew what I was getting into. I bought it because I wanted something more under the radar than my sub while in short sleeves at work. Good advise above in "try before you buy"!

I love my original 2 liner. Just a great every day watch that flies under the radar.

I had the original 2 liner, ETA movement for about year. Loved almost everything about it. Matte finish to the case, dial and bezel; fantastic clasp and super comfortable bracelet; ridiculous lume; very legible.
I upgraded to the SD 16600 for 3 reasons. I wanted something with a little more flash (not that the SD is flashy, but it might as well be YG compared to the Pelagos). When looking at the Pelagos, the bezel hangs over the case in such a way that you cannot see the cool pointy crown guards when looking straight down. For some reason this bothered me. Lastly, the movement and rotor were both quite loud. I would recommend the Pelagos to anyone. It is a great watch and served me well. If it sings to you, pick up a used one and you won't lose money when you flip it. However, I don't think you can compare it to the BLNR..or any other Rolex for that matter. |

Acquired a brand new one. Rotor noise which was quite annoying. Moving my wrist around, you could here the winding rotor. Actually sent it to RSC Dallas and they said it was fine and the noise is normal. That being the case, its not for me. Too spoiled with Rolex I guess.

I was in your same position with my heart set on the BLNR, but started to consider the blue Pelagos, given its more economical price point. They're both great watches, but there's really no comparison. If you opt for the Pelagos, you may feel like you're settling. I would definitely recommend going with the BLNR, which is what I did. You won't be disappointed. The other upside is that it retains its value extremely well should you ever tire of it.

Both nice watches. Have to agree with the other comments regarding the BLNR. If you are set on it, you'll probably get tired of the Tudor easily. Try them both on and you will know what is truly the one for you. Good luck.

If it is one or the other, I'd probably get the blnr.
With that said, my current rotation has three divers. The pelagos blue, the SDc and the AP Diver and they get wrist time in that order. I adore my pelagos. |

I have one with Tudor in house caliber and a Rolex 116600 Seadweller.Cannot compare with Rolex for finishing, Rolex is perfect (for example : link screw, dial index, marking on the dial, hands, triplock crown, case back etc.. a lot higher quality for Rolex but Pelagos is very good.
Pelagos is very very well finished, very comfortable to wear more than Rolex(titanium case, bracelet, except folding clasp and case back both in steel 316L I think). Caliber : 70 H power reserve more than Rolex, high precision more than Rolex in my view because using silicon escapement ( same high precision for Omega 8500 caliber). At last very good watches but if you dream about Rolex get it first ! Anyway we cannot compare the current Tudor model with: the old one using ETA. |

Have black Pelagos and SD4000 and Pelagos gets 80% of the wear. As others have said it and a Rolex are different watches so really comes down to what you want in the watch. Pelagos is no nonsense under the radar in a way, but in another way the watch will get noticed for its uniqueness and generally people love it. Some say it looks cheap or plastic like but I feel the simple aesthetics are well done and actually look higher end. I think that is what gets the Pelagos noticed.
