New Luminors! PAM1000 & PAM1005

Officine Panerai announced the discontinuation of the models PAM0000 and PAM0005 in favor of the face-lifted versions sporting the latest revisions of the Luminor Marina 44mm product group. The new models will be named PAM01000 and PAM01005.



The Italian origin Swiss watchmaker Officine Panerai announced that the models PAM00000 and PAM00005 will be discontinued. Known to be the two best sellers of the brand, those legendary models will be face-lifted referring to the latest revisions in the Luminor Marina 44mm product line and named as PAM01000 and PAM01005 respectively.



The new models will bear the serial no. starting with “S” which stands for the production period of March 2016 – April 2017. Besides the upgrades like integrated bezel and easy strap change spring bars which we are familiar with the recent releases of the Luminor Marina 44m family, the new models will also bear the snap on caseback ( and WR100M rating accordingly ). We are also informed that the new ref. Models –unlike their predecessors- will have no extra straps in the box set.

on the bright side there will be some collectability to models such as the 000, 111 or all models that actually function as they were born to do… the new releases seem to have given up all attempts…

I was in the Panerai boutique here yesterday and my new best friend admitted he wasn't overly happy with the new 1312 and 1359. He raved over the new movements but not so much the slimmer case and lighter weight. In his view, a Panerai is supposed be a big, manly, rugged, 'in yer face' grrrrrr type of watch. The new versions move away from the Panerai DNA. I'm inclined to agree.

Best I pick up a 359 or 312 el rapido before they're gone.

Would have preferred the logo to have aged lume and shark strap like the Original logo

It looks like they have changed the font of the numbers in addition to all the changes stated above. Also looks like they've kept the eta base movements.

I cannot believe the direction Panerai has taken their entry level watches in. I also find it hard to believe that the MSRP wasn't producing a sufficient profit margin on the 000 and 005. It directly conflicts with the history of the brand to lower the dive rating on these watches to 100m. Even the daytona chrono is 100m rated and it's both a chrono and in no way a dive watch. Wonder what the second hand price will be on these (read: LOW).
