Bremont ruined their reputation when they falsely claimed to have developed their own in-house movement a couple of years ago. This was quickly disproved by the watch community and made them a laughing stock.

You'd have thought they'd have learned after Tag Heuer did exactly the same thing a few years ago when they bought in a Seiko movement and falsely claimed it as their own (The 1887 chrono movement), again quickly dismissed by the WIS collective.

Roger W Smith though is a different proposition entirely.....greatest living watchmaker in the world and worth every penny of the £100k+ cost.

That's a pity re Bremont, i hadn't heard that. Agree re Roger W Smith - nice to have them just off our shores too.

I found the article rather weak but I suppose it's OK for a non watch fan. There are a lot of British watch "manufacturers" nowadays but nothing special. They all seem to be Fricker (or other) case and ETA (or other) movement at vastly inflated prices. I think that Bremont are OK but they are twice the price of what they are worth. The British Watch show Salon QP has more of these new British Manufacturers every year and less of the established Swiss brands it's one of the reasons that I've stopped going to it.
