My friend's Ferrari and Corvette will both wax my Honda Accord in the speed department.

I still wouldn't trade my Accord for either.

I got a ticket doing 118mph in my Accord.

My friend can get tickets and a trip to jail doing 160mph.

He doesn't have near the trunk space, either.

Disclosure: I have two Mac Book Pro's an iPad Pro, iPad mini, two x iPod Clasic's and a Motorola Nexus 6, I had every iPhone from iPhone 3GS up too and including iPhone 5s so could hardly be called an Apple hater or detractor, in fact I am delighted with my Apple products which work seamlessly with my Nexus 6.

My next iPhone will be when I believe it is better than the offerings from Samsung, atm I don't think that is the case, the new iPhone that will be released later in Sep is rumoured to have a small update in features but not in form, will it be better than my 2 year old Nexus 6? Probably, will it be better than the new Nexus 7 that will be released shortly? I don't know, will it be better than the new Note 7? I very much doubt it.

Will it cost more? Most definitely.

This with little concern about viruses although, to be fair, that concern is now growing over the last couple of years.

The bonus for me is they provide great technical support that is easy to reach when needed. They make very reliable hardware. My daughter is using the same laptop for more than 8 years and it still is being used every day. The iPhone has amazing re-sale value, because it is reliable and stylish, even after it has been used for two years or more.

Is Apple perfect? Not by a long shot but they provide reliable, stylish, leading edge products with very good support services and technical leadership that is nearly unsurpassed in my opinion.

All I want the tool to do is work the way I need it to. When Apple products fail to do this, then I will look for an alternative.
So in your opinion Apple is a great American company.
Perhaps you never read or seen the articles about where Apple's products are made.

Isn't nearly everything manufactured overseas these days that once was manufactured in the US? I wonder why that has been happening and I know it's not just Apple! I know where all the engineering is being done, in the US. I also know where the tax money is being paid. Yes it is a great American company.
