Help with Sub ref 16800 is this a decent deal? Advice?
Hello All
Apologies if I've stuck this in the wrong area. I'm looking at a Submariner listed locally, ref no. 16800. Owner says date of manufacture is 1982. He's asking $4500. I'd like your opinion on this particular watch. My own observations: 1) in one of the photos, the crown looked like it was dented in but I can't really tell 2) the face is marked "Swiss" instead of "Swiss Made." An image search of other 16800's didn't turn up other examples marked this way. Since I am not an expert by any means, if appreciate any help or feedback before I contact the owner. I plan to have the watch checked completely at a local shop that has a lot of Rolex experience if I decide to contact the owner. Pics below: Last edited by HoustonRoo; 30 August 2016 at 12:43 PM.. Thanks! It just felt weird but I wasn't sure why it felt weird.

Better case pics needed to be sure but at the very least it's had a terrible polish that has caused permanent case deformation. That dial is no good either so pass. Questionable everything based on those pics.

It's all wrong as stated above. The white gold surrounds and the font on the dial were immediate signs. The box and the anchor etc, look to me to be suspect but that's not my expertise. Bullet dodged my friend.
