Z06 Corvettes

I have been planning to order an 09 Z06. Did some research and was shocked to find out that 27% of all 08's made are still in dealer inventory. Through several corvette forums there are dealers offering steals on them. Found several that could be had at 1500 under GM employee price or 12-14 k under sticker. I found a dealer that would order an 09 that stickers for 78k delivered to Austin for 66k. I can only think that prices will get even better as December approaches and taxes kick in. That and Chevy can't allow the flagship car to rot in inventory.

Hi ! PM sent !!

Many dealers just plain don't know what to stock. I stocked my Corvettes properly in 2008 and am now sold out of 08 Z06's. The cars you see sitting around are the wrong color or too heavily optioned, in my opinion.

There are some great deals on the 08 right now, including 0% for 48 months through August the 19th. I'd be glad to order you an 09 at a great deal. I am a well known high volume Corvette dealer with plenty of allocation. Feel free to PM me if you like.

From what I see on JeffHardy.com it looks like there is a good selection of all options and colors. I am taking a wait and see attitude about buying. But thanks, i will contact you when ready.

Not a shock at all. Do you think $70K+ sports cars are going to fly off the dealer lots in this economy? I would wait and get a left-over at the end of the year when GM has the best incentives.

What a fun car?
I had the opportunity to drive one once a couple of years ago. My son's karate instructor has one.
Maybe I'm paying him too much?

I am holding out for the Z07 650HP model. I am sure you will be getting one and are they still going to limit production to 1,000?

From what I hear Chevy is delayed in getting the C7 certified and is putting it off. But when it does, wow what a car, all wheel drive too.

Exactly my point. The dealers here are in panic mode now. I went out to look at one 2 weeks ago, an 08, told the guy I was not buying but looking and the sales manager threw out a price that was 800 over invoice. Not a great deal but with no haggle not too bad. They called me back 3 days later and gave me a price that was 5 k under that one. I bet by December it will be pure panic.

Better to wait and get it right than to release a troubled Flagship. Other than women, strippers, beer, Rolexes; did I mention beer, I enjoy Corvettes. Now before I get judged on liking Corvettes I do own a "P" car so let me have my fun.

There aren't too many options available on Z06, but there are option groups. !LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ. The 2LZ and 3LZ have heated and memory seats which run the price up and open up the availability of adding Navigation too. Also there are 3 wheel options and 3 paint options. Our best selling Z06 is the 1LZ with chrome wheels.

Redshirt.......... as far as the Z07 goes, I think you may mean the ZR1. Just getting under way right now. This is the supercharged 6.2 V8 supercar. Do a search and read about it anywhere and everywhere. Production numbers will probably be around 200 worldwide. Production will run for 2 years and possibly a third.

Wolfgang......... As far as waiting for a deal, now is a great time. Prices are at an all time low, supply is at an all time high and GM will finance for 0% on remaining 08's. 09's are on the ground now, so there is huge motivation to clear out the 08's.

There are lots of dealers out there that don't specialize in Corvettes like we do, so there are panic deals galore. Nobody wants to look at a lot full of 70 to 80K cars all winter !! :) Glad I'm sold out of 08 Z06's and convertibles. I only have about 8 coupes left in stock !!

Redshirt - the ZR1 from everything I have read for the extra 30K more over the Z06 does not offer that much more over the Z06 as it pertians to $$ per performance. Especially since there will be limited production dealers are going to put a premium over the MSRP. The 30K difference may be conservative.

Now that GM is really in the dumpers, it would not surprise me the ZR1 be postponed indefinitly.

Ah...GM might be in the "dumpers" now, but the ZR1 will still come out...no doubt about that one. And as soon as the Volt makes it into production, I predict a new era will be begin for The General. Standby...

I drove an '08 Z06 at the dealer last month when I bought my crew cab Chevy. That thing was stupid sick. Acceleration equal to that of my '06 Honda CBR1000RR -- but all the G's get tranfered against the body because you're sitting in a driver's seat instead of being crouched over a gas tank. It was freakin' awesome!!!

Okay, that's really all I have to add to this thread. However, I'm planning, in maybe 2014 when the truck's paid off, to purchase a "lightly used" '08 Z06. Might be able to afford one then. Sorry, but the $80,699 pricetag is slightly outta my range.

Not good.

Regarding the Z06, I say hold off, prices will continue to drop. The GTR however, is being sold in droves WITH dealer markups, if that tells you anything.

Aaaah. The Amuze GTR.

Don't worry though BTSinAustin, you probably can't get one anyways. 70% of the GTRs were sold within the first few days of release in the US.

Who wants the fastest production car ever made anyways? 3.3 sec 0-60. $69,850

I mean, Corvettes and Rolexs?.. C'mon!

Sorry for the OT, just thought i'd try to help u with your decision a bit, BT.

May I ask what you drive and with pictues in the driveway? My daily driver, and all I can afford, is a 1985 Delta 88 with 325,169 miles on it.

No problem. The only decision here is how long to wait. I am thinking last week of December. Right before inventory tax is due.

But when you sell it, you will list it as "premium babied Delta 88 with only 25,169 miles on it."

I love how American cars of that era never had 6-digit odometers!

Not to start a war or anything, but can someone please explain to me why a Corvette?

For the price of a Z06, you have quite a few options. I know they are fassst, but to me, they lack in refinement, balance, interior quality, guzzle gas, bad service at local chevy dealerships, very common, etc..

lol, please don't yell at me.. i drive a boring ass VW and Dodge Ram so im certainly not here to bash Vettes or anything. And I have no problems with Domestic cars..

I plan of buying my first true sports car in about 3-4 more years and I never considered a Vette before, I'm a huge fan of the new Porsche 911 and BMW M5. Am I missing something?

Have you driven a C5 or C6 Corvette? If not, give it a try and see what you think.. I an no expert, but I do own both brands (Porsche and Vettes). It seems that most of my Porsche freinds spend more time telling me what is wrong with my Corvettes than they do driving their own. I cannot remember any of my Corvette friends caring or talking about any other cars; and they do own other types. They just jabber away about their babies.

Unbalanced ??? Gas guzzlers ??? 26MPG for a 505 HP Z06 sounds pretty good to me ? Our dealership offers the finest Corvette service available. Bad service is available with any product and any brand. That's why it is important to buy from a vendor who can offer a good product and great service, not just a cheap price.

For the money, the Corvette is pretty darned hard to beat. Plus, they've been around for over 50 years !!!
