Name Change??

When I first signed up for TRF, I wasn't sure what to expect, so I used an old name "Launch MINI".
That name referred to a car I no longer have.
Should I change my name to simply my Initials (JPB) now, or stick with "Launch Mini"???

I think I clicked a wrong box on the poll set up??? ( Your names will show up under your your vote, sorry bout that)

First, I know other people who are served well by handles that refer to cars they no longer own. So I wouldn't be concerned about that. It's more interesting than initials. Initials are just so un-webforum-like. You need a "handle" that has some meaning.

What does the "launch" part of your name mean? And why did you get rid of the Mini? (asks the guy who's had like 15 cars in the last 10 years ;-))

Although I'm in favor of keeping it, I thought of a significant benefit of changing it: JJ will never know who you are again. He's legendary for his inability to accept change. (Except when spending that plastic kiwi money. ;-))

I like it as is, it makes me think of both you and the next car that I want.

To be honest, I can't remember all your names anyway so it would not bother me one way or the other. Go with your heart.

Let me try to answer your question about the "launch" part.

In the Mini's first year, BMW launched the car with a limited run of "Launch Edition" cars. These cars were numbered and based on the Base cooper, but it came with numerous Cooper S body pieces and a number of interior options as standard.

I know this because I was invited by BMW for the launch here in Toronto.

I voted to keep LM, John. It's unique to you and it's how we know you. There are other ways to hide from JJ. Not letting him keep his login live is a one way.

Besides, the initials JBP get too close to another set of initials we no longer allow around here. Of course, those were followed by a II, but it's still too close.
