Serial number is 842xxxx,should this be a matte dial.
On the DRSD website it says Matt dials up to 8.5 million or thereabouts.
Is 842 too early for a gloss dial does anybody know

Not too early of a serial for gloss dial. That was right in the period where Rolex was transitioning out from the matte tritium no metal surrounds dials.

Very nice piece with great tritium patina and fat case. Try to see the watch in person, because the dials from this period have a tendency to go matte or craze a little with mottling, which is often tough to see in photos. You need to see the dial cross-lit at angles. You can see a little of this type of aging around the date window in the posted photos. Of course, some guys might love that look, like patina! Good luck!

It actually says in the watch description that the dial is turning Matt around the 5 and 10 past markers.
Would this put buyers off if I was to try and resell in the future?
I'll be seeing it tomorrow in person, not sure if I like faded dials or not,I'll know when I pick it up.

I assume you're saying 6k in USD?

I have the exact same model and around the same price. Except it's a bit older put together in 1980.

Its a beautiful piece and you can see the pearl is ageing nicely.

Get the authentication sorted out and go for it! All the best Name: P_20161002_172650_1_p.jpg

Might be tougher to sell in the future, depending on the dial issues. If the aging is uniform it could be cool, but if it's splotchy and uneven it could be unattractive. Just depends. And keep in mind that the aging of the dial usually progresses over time, and spot blemishes also might be a sign that moisture once got on the dial. Good that you're seeing it in person!

Well, I saw the watch in person,it was a lot nicer in the flesh, the dial was a lot better than it looked in the photos.
Unfortunately an issue with the bracelet so I decided to pass.
