Seadweller Dilemma
Thinking of swapping my Seadweller 16600 (pictured bellow) for a 1979 Seadweller 1665 (also picture bellow)
Mine is a 2006 Z serial, full set, with service papers dated Nov 2014 The one I'm thinking about is the 1665 great white, watch only. All original bar the bezel insert. The thinking is my watch plus £3000..... I know where my heart lies but I'm trying to think practically as well. What do we all think? |

I would say no because of the lack of paperwork/box. Your Z serial seems to have clearly been taken care of/cared for more.

Not sure about the value of complete set, but great whites generally are worth substantially more than your generation SD. Ask yourself what the intended purpose of this watch will be to you. Do you plan on swimming with this watch? Or will you feel compelled to buy another for wet duties?

Need to see more pics of the 1665 as well as the first few digits of the serial number. Insert has been changed as noted but the original super dome crystal has also been replaced. For vintage, originality/period correct parts are a huge factor in determining price.

Have the pleasure of both, while the 1665 is a cool watch it doesn't get anything like the wrist time of the 16600. Don't know why, but the 16600 is my default "go-to" watch amongst many. I think you'll regret letting it go, especially a full set. Suggest save your pennies and add the 1665 later if you can. Good luck!

I'd hold onto your SD and pick up an older one down the road. I've played the vintage game for a while, but than got into the newer pieces and haven't looked back.

Update, the 1665 is from the original owner, with a recent service, confirmed all original apart from bezel insert
