Any good independents in CT?

Its coming time to get my '80 5500 serviced. I was considering using Central Watch, but after hearing about how they have overcharged people, I am straying away from using them. Do you guys know of any good independents that have parts accounts in CT?

please tell me it's not ralph

seriously tho i'm originally from Ct but don't know of any techs. there are quite a few good guys in manhattan. i would suggest contacting george at tempus fugit in chelsea and i'll dig up his contact info and post it. his tech is very well respected and handles alot of rolexes and high end stuff. we have used him plenty over the years. you may also try to check with john buckley as he has a few good techs.

Lasalle road West Hartford.

You have an AD (lux bond I think) and Becker's across the street for used/vintage.

The AD was quite cool with me and off the street they gave me first refusal on the blue Pelagos when the first one arrived. I passed but they did keep their word.

Becker's is fun to browse and they will find stuff for you at competitive pricing.

Thanks guys! Im going to bring it down to Central Watch for an estimate, but if the price is ridiculously high, I will take it to one of the people you guys mentioned. Thanks!

I don't post often, but I'd second this recommendation. The only problem is I think the owner has scaled back his repair service. Per his website, he's not taking on routine service work any longer. It's too bad - I've had him service two Rolexes in the past and both came out great.

I know, what a bummer. I was looking at his site last night and saw that. Prices looked reasonable as well.

You might want to call or email the owner - can't hurt to ask.

I just sent him an email. Will wait and see what he says. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for a service done by this guy?

I recommend Rick also. He is a busy guy and has to turn away work from time to time.

Lux Bond & Green sends most Rolex work to RSC N.Y. they had a Great Authorized Rolex watch maker on site but he moved on. I don't know to much about the new authorized guy but he did some nice touch up polishing on an older GMT Root Beer for me

Becker's just quoted me $650+ for a cleaning. That sounds unreasonably high, though, I have no experience with watches so maybe that is competitive.

That does sound pretty high. I may look into them though if Central Watch comes in higher.

Sorry I'm late to the discussion...I also highly recommend Rick at pieces of time in newington. I've purchased watches from him and had others serviced. Great guy, and does great work. As others have mentioned, he might not be taking on new work, but worth an email to be sure.
