New and excited
Hi guys hopefully this is the right place to post this.
My husband has been saving for ages and has managed to buy me a Rolex for Christmas. It's a pre owned one (we couldn't afford one from new) and purchased through the jewellers Goldsmiths. I have searched the Rolex website and the WWW and am struggling to find many others of the same design. Which is making me a bit nervous that it isn't legit. The description is Lady Datejust 26 Blue Jubilee Dial Stainless Steel Rolex Oyster Automatic Watch I guess I'm hoping someone with more knowledge can put my mind at ease? The watch didn't come with anything aside from the box. Thanks! |

It looks ok to me. An authorised dealer would probably have given you close to that 18% discount on the MSRP for brand new though.

"Pre-Owned Information
Condition - Un-Worn." Looks like they put a lot of care into their website descriptions |

Looks good to me too, don't think there are many fakes with that dial. Enjoy it, Sista!

Did they say how old your watch is? I noticed the write-up says a Rolex warranty is included. Did you also receive that?

Adam, I would have agreed with you until last week. I messaged a very close friend who is a supervisor at a large UK high street jewellers and also a Rolex AD. I asked what discount she could give me on a TT blue Sub. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Not a sausage. And this is the same girl that shoved me to the top of the list for my D-Blue. She also offered me 11% on Mrs Van D's Lady DJ this time last year, but I was offered a better deal here in Singapore. Anyhoo, I'm not really on the hunt now but I poked my nose into my AD here a few days previously just to say hello and have a mooch; he offered me 15% on the TT Blue without me even asking. I'm beginning to wonder if the discounts are what they used to be at home. I'm heading back to the UK soon so I'm going to do a bit of hunting and see if it's isolated to that one shop and/or chain or if it's a general thing

No, that's what made me a little worried. The only thing in the box was a small booklet. No sign of any warranty. I called them yesterday and they are going to call me back today. I guess they either find that warranty or I will be going for a discount. I'll update once they've called. |

It looks OK to me but if the dealer doesn't respond to your satisfaction, then perhaps a visit to a Rolex service center to have it authenticated? In Singapore this costs about US$75 - a worthwhile expenditure for total peace of mind.
Good luck! PS that's a lovely watch - congrats! |

watch was pre owned used in immaculate condition with a 2 year warranty, as he could not discount he has also thrown in a service for my Omega Seamaster 300, so happy with the deal, enjoy your new watch it looks stunning |

Looks OK. But to be sure, your description said Jubilee ... That watch is mounted on an oyster bracelet.
Edit: Never mind, Jubilee Dial (oops) It also never mentions papers. Just branded box to be included. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Sista, please ignore the comments above from those not based in UK.
You have purchased your watch from a genuine Rolex Authorised Dealer so you have nothing to worry about. The one thing I would say however is (by their own admission) Goldsmiths are rather expensive for used watches. Huge congratulations and Happy Christmas. |

Goldsmiths are a subsidiary company of Mappin & Webb, who are Authorised Main Dealers. Some UK Goldsmiths shops sell new Rolex watches.

Goldsmiths is an AD in its own right and claims to be the largest authorised retailer of Rolex watches in the world.

You've basically got £1,150 discount on what is effectively a new watch. Nothing to worry about and everything to be happy about

Thanks everyone for all the help.
Goldsmiths called me today and admitted they made a mistake on the website and it doesn't come with the Rolex guarantee. They have offered me an apology and £100 gift card which I have declined. I have asked for something which shows authenticity. They are going to contact Rolex and ask for a duplicate card (although I have read that this isn't possible?) failing that I will ask for a certificate or something. They are going to call me on Wednesday so I will update then. I actually got a further £1000 off this price as I had a code to use so think I got a bargain. |

There is not really a chance this is not authentic as, altho it is a used piece without the paperwork, when a franchise like Fraser Hart or GS get a used or trade in watch they send it to head office for hopefully a proper service and check up, they don't just put it in the shop window. However I would really want some certs from Rolex so I too would press on this issue.

Thanks AK797. I'm sure it's genuine. My concern would be when I want to sell it. (If) I won't have anything to say it is. Hopefully they'll be able to provide something.

wow - what a thread. starts with did my husband buy me a legit rolex and ends ( so far with ) ...when I want to sell it after he'd saved up. Lets hope you hubby isn't a member of the Forum eh!
just enjoy it, its from an AD, if it came with a receipt from Goldsmiths and if for any reason it required work from Rolex Service then the fact your other half bought through an authorised dealer should be fine.

Obviously I'm not planning to sell it ever as I've never in my life had something this expensive and I love it it's beautiful. However you never know what's in the future. |

Update.
They called me back today and offered me £150 refund for lack of guarantee. I declined this as when I asked about the service paperwork they said there wasn't any despite their own website saying every pre owned watch is fully serviced and checked before sale. I asked them if they had the serial number on file to which they also said no! Long and short of it they are going to have another check to see if they have any paperwork regarding the service and if not will get it booked in as well as offering me their own 24 month guarantee They are calling me back by Friday so will see what happens. |
