Rolex Daytona
I have been offered a SS black face Daytona 116520 with box and papers etc. I have been told it is a V series watch registered in 2009 is this the right year and letter date. Thanks in advance

V serials were first seen in 2008; there were not any new serial releases in 2009 and then the Randoms and G serials were first seen in late 2010.
So, certainly, V serials could be between 2008 and 2011 pretty easily.

According to the Specht Sheet, a reliable watch newsletter for dealers, a V serial went into production in 2008 3/4, G serial numbers started in 2009 3/4 and Random serial numbers started in 2010 1/2.
The Daytona you mention could have been manufactured in the later part of 2008 and then registered with first owner in 2009 before the G serial numbers kicked in. I also have a 116520 black face and it is a beautiful watch and soon will be sought out by those who like the look of the steel bezel. Good luck with the purchase! |

I bought my black dial Daytona SS in July 09. It has V serial number. Love the timepiece.
