FSOT: Omega Vintage Military Issued RAF 53 Fat Arrow

Up for grabs is this gem that will make a fellow collector extremely happy because of the condition that is in.

I copied the following form another text while I was researching this piece, it has very good info:

Omega 6B/542 military issued watch from 1953.

These watches were issued to the British Military by Omega and built to the Military of Defence’s DEF-3 specifications of the time.

The ’53 Omega was manufactured with a stainless steel brushed case with fixed lug bars, ‘thin arrow’ luminous hands with luminous dial markings, a 17 jewel, 30 mm, 283 calibre movement which featured shock-protection and non-magnetic components.

The military markings on the caseback are as follows:-
- Government Mark in the form of a ‘Broad Arrow’
- NATO Stock Number – as was often the case, the NSN was truncated to simply 6645 101000
- RAF Stores Reference code: 6B/542
- Serial number of the watch followed by a slash and the year of issue by the RAF: ####/53


I acquired this in a recent trade with a long time and trusted member. Dust cover and spacer ring are there I just don't have the tool to open it at the moment. Watch was serviced early 2015, keeps excellent time, the few hours that I had it on it did not skip a beat, crown turns very sprightly and has great tactile feedback. It will be hard to find an example of this watch in better condition.
