Using VPN with TRF?
Because I often connect to public WiFi I've started to use a VPN service on my phone. But I guess whatever IP address it assigns me is "banned" from TRF. I know I can turn the VPN off at home, but I do like browsing TRF during downtime at the hospital or at restaurants. I know that there are some security issues for the forum, but is there anything else I can do while on public WiFi?

Interesting issue. As someone that works in this a lot of threats come over VPNs and anonymizers so it is a prudent area to block. A lot of security tools actively drop connections from these services.

You can login using the https protocol. Note that the certificate here expired a couple of years ago, just click "advanced" or similar when you get the warning about that and accept it anyway. By doing so your username and password can not be read during the transfer by the owners of the public wifi.

I use VPN w TFR a lot. If one address is banned, I pick up another one.

As a follow-up it does look like occasionally I get an IP address that someone else must have used and been banned. Switching works.
