Highly doubtful. More off the wall salesman sales tactics IMO.

Jeez the things say of them say beggars belief, just cultivating an atmosphere to charge more when they have one IMO

Just tell the salesman if it's true, you are not looking to purchase until the announcement is official...have him give you a call as soon as Rolex puts it in writing. Somehow I think he might change his tune...

Afraid some salesmen at ADs don't have as much knowledge as many of the forum members. And some Ad salesmen have been noted many times taking though there where the sun don't shine.

Maybe he meant that the current SS Daytona will be discontinued and replaced with a new version and model number? Or maybe he's full of it. Who knows?

I always use their logic against them. "Wow good thing I did not buy that watch! What watch will be around forever, the datejust? Okay I will tell all my friends what you said since you are the expert."

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but let's say it is discontinued and a new/updated model is released. Do you think the "old" SS Daytona will hold or increase in it's value, or would it slowly decline bec the "new" version would become the grail watch?

Probably would stay fairly static. Some would view it as the next El Primero Newman while others would dump them to get the latest model.

I think that if Rolex discontinue the Daytona then it will drop in value since they will then become obsolete.
This happens with cars all the time. I also have heard that Rolex are planning to stop selling watches and concentrate on selling golf hats and paperweights.

I heard the same rumor today as well. That is exactly what it is "a rumor". We will never know until it is officially announced by Rolex. At this point, there are no AD's that know anything more about this rumor then anyone on this forum. We shall all wait and see.
