i can't say that i like it! was told to leave it on though...but i haven't seen any others with the sticker still on.. maybe it had sentimental meaning to the previous owner?

Curious...What were the reasons you were told to leave it on?

Is there any benefit? I would guess that some people keep it on to show how "pristine" they've kept their watch...and hopefully increase resale value.

Is that true? Well...I guess I would answer that by saying, would it make a difference to you if you were buying a pre-owned watch and one had the back sticker on and one didn't? For me, no, but to each his own.

For me, it's one of the first things to go. The beauty of the Rolex case is how silky smooth the metal feels against the skin. Just my opinion, of course.

Remove, does nothing to increase value, nor does it increase performance.

I received my Sub on Saturday (thanks takuya) and I am proud to say I IMMEDIATELY took ALL the stickers off it so it could breathe properly.

If you're going to wear the watch the stickers come off

My ritual involves taking them all off and I stick them inside the first page of one of the books. Not sure why I do that but if I ever resell the watch is definitely complete

I don't think I am. I am just stating my philosophy towards stickers on watches. I believe that is germane to the subject of the thread.

A few years ago we always had some folks who swore that keeping the sticker on the back lent some sort of legitimacy to their watch.

There were also some publications that told you that if it didn't have a sticker on the back the watch was probably fake..

Both assertions were false, of course, but half our Forum traffic seemed to be about that sticker...

The whole point of the sticker did not mean any such thing, of course. The purpose is to keep the back from getting scratched by the clasp prior to sale. Now days they use a clear sticker for the same purpose.

It's funny that someone could get comfort when they see that sticker thinking it authenticates the watch in some way. It's gross leaving it on.

It's obvious that we don't compare the same thing.

It's difficult to determine if OP's sticker is the hologram or the version before that but it does look like it is.

As far as todays flimsy plastic stickers of course I agree to peel them off.

I wouldn't leave a nasty, mucked-up sticker on the case back, but I actually buy those generic clear stickers with the red lines and put them on my case backs to protect them. Any time you lay your watch flat with the bracelet, that case back can get scratched. And NATO straps can also scratch your case back. I once wore a NATO for about a year on an old 14060 Sub and the outline/shadow of the NATO strap was permanently imbedded on the case back. With the stickers, that doesn't happen.

I think you'll find far, far more gunk, bacteria and other bodily fluid residue behind the bezel and crown. Don't let it bother you

I got mine here:
http://www.bostonwatchexchange.com/R.../redline12.htm

They're cheaper than on Amazon. I believe the 28mm ones are correct for 40mm case Rolexes, but double-check.
