I'm an equal opportunity drinker and like quality spirits, my booze-bunker has representation from all over the world and given that I do consume a good deal of Tequila I just wanted to give a heads up to those here in the U.S. who may not understand yet that prices for these products are not going to stay the same. That is all.

Yep. If there is a fear or rumor that prices are going up, it gets people stirred up. Look what happens here everytime an AD tells some newbie that they had better buy soon because Rolex is going to have a price increase next month.

This is the only comment I will make on a very sensible subject (I will NOT get into politics as I do believe in mutual respect). 85% (yes, eighty five) of tequila manufacturing companies are owned by foreign corporations; NOT mexican ones; most of which are...yes, US based.

Lower sales will hurt...US corporations, and US jobs. Tequila is manufactured in Jalisco, Mexico; but sold, commercialized and distributed by foreign companies. Profits go to foreign corporations, they do NOT stay in the country. Will the producers be hit? Yes; but it is nothing compared to the blow the corporation (not mexican) will receive. Ditto for luxury vehicles and a ton of other goodies. If an import tax is imposed (country specific tax is against world trade regulations, I will NOT get into what can/could/should be done), there goes cars, watches, wine, clothing...

Final note: Mexico is the world's LARGEST importer of US products. (231 billion; census.gov; 43.3% of all US exports). Great idea fighting against your LARGEST customer.

Avocados are probably going to cost more as well. The '4 for a dollar' supermarket specials will probably become a thing of the past.
The retail price of Mexican beer(s) will also be affected by 'the wall' and/or any related export tariffs.

winter produce of all kinds from Mexico is a big deal to most of the U.S. and will also be subject to price increases.

Marc, it wasn't the point of the liqour increase that has this thread now closed, it's the picture you accompanied to the post (now removed) that did it!!
