I'm seriously considering upgrading from my WG DD to a 118206, what a machine.....

The watch from your post?

Because of the gaps, should be a fake one too? Like your iPhone and my watch.

All Day-Dates manufactured between 1954 to 1999 have that gap between the end link and the case. Rolex made the end link flush with the case in 2000 with the release of the 118238, 118239, and 118206 which is the platinum one.

And he has the same cheaper model

Simmer down.

Ok guy....I've had it with your comments...your watch IS in fact fake....my DD in fact DOESN'T have gaps where the bracelet meets the case...I will agree that in the pics it does look that way however....that just isn't the case, but rather the angle of the pic, I have proof my pieces are authentic ....I don't have to go any further in proving my pieces are authentic and I'm not going to have a pissing match with you.....I've bought sold and owned over 200 Rolex watches and have now 9 Rolex' in my collection not counting my Omega Speedmaster....YOU we're the one who in fact argued your piece was authentic and THEN backtracked saying that no...it is fake...let it go chief...accept the fact that you posted pictures of your fake watch and you got called out on it....

He's a troll man, he's just doing it to get under your skin. No use arguing with him. His watch is fake not just cuz of the gaps in the bracelet. That dial only came from Rolex in a yellow gold day date 36. At the time period of the dial release the cases had flush fitting end links and polished beautiful lugs. His lugs look to be brushed via 200 grit sandpaper by some child laborer in china so not native to the time period of said dial but much earlier. There's a platinum masterpiece on eBay with a similar pave dial...seems to be the ONLY example of it in plat and me personally I don't think the watch is genuine just by looking at pics and the seller. Also masterpieces correct me if I'm wrong are 39mm so if dial was only made authentic from Rolex in plat in 39mm.... how does it fit in a 36mm ?? Ahhhhhh now we're cooking

Next look at his first post in which he states he wears it everyday, then a forum member asked him for more pics , now all of a sudden the watch he wears every day is nowhere to be found and he must fetch it from the safety deposit box?

I have both the WG Day-Date and the Pt. Day-Date, both in 36mm. For me, the area that shows the most scratching is on the case, opposite the crown side. This is mainly due to shirt cuffs rubbing the side of the case.

I think I have noticed it more on the Pt. version than the gold. I like them both, but wear the 118206 10X more than the WG (118239) example.

Both watches are stealthy....which I prefer.

Got for it!

I could be wrong, but based on the 1000's of watches I've looked at online and in store I'm pretty sure I'm correct.
There were WG Day-Date models that came with a smooth bezel (ref. 118209). A WG Oyster bracelet was also a possibility.

Fluted bezel never came factory on the Pt. as far as I know, nor was a Pt. Oyster bracelet available for the DD.

The glacier dials were only factory fitted to the Pt. models, never the WG but some have swapped the dials to the WD DD model.
