Resting positions for my latest, a 126333 have no effect at all. The watch has run consistently at an average -1.5s/day since I got it four months ago.

Would you be able to share which model Wolf and which Rolex references?
I have a Wolf Cub given as a gift from my Rolex AD. Tried it out with my most durable watch i.e. the 116610LN and it couldn't hold the weight of the piece. It would fall face first out of the winder on rotation. Luckily I wasn't convinced of it's ability so placed a micro fibre town in front and save a potential shattered bezel falling onto a hard surface. Very disappointed. Wolf even sent me a smaller internal cushion. Tried it with my hand in front to catch. Sure enough it fell out. I'm positive I used it correctly. Has no problem with my G shock. Yes, I know it's a quartz, it was more for the testing of the winder. Panerai are a no go in it. I'm too scared to give my Lange a try in it |

My watch has it's own bed. It usually sleeps on it's back, but sometimes on it's side or tummy depending on how it feels.

By alternating between crown down/dial up I have been able to keep my EXP II (3186 mvt.) to within 1-2 seconds for months at a time. Not per day, but for the entire period. On the rare occasions when I wear another watch for a few days straight, I start all over again and the results are the same.
I don't want to send it in for routine service because I'm sure it will never be the same again. |

Advise is to always lay your Rolex crown down so that the crown, being a small contact point, helps support the watch case off the surface and thus help prevent scratches.

I'm a positioner, too. My watch is -2.2spd on the winder, +0.9spd on wrist, and -1spd crown up, and +0.0 dial up.
58 days since I set the time on my watch, and it is currently -2.0s from atomic time. Yeah. I'm a nerd. |

I used to have it in a bed of chinchilla fur but chinchillas became too expensive. Now it mystically levitates mid air in an upright position. It could be the watch is possessed or maybe I just need to see a shrink. That said last time I went to see one I missed my appointment because the Watch gained 0.02 seconds in a day and I hadn't reset it for 2 whole days.

Crown down on a swath of felt backed alcantara. Crown is a service item. Yellow gold will make you paranoid in ways not known to most men

Myself have had a specially made Rolex bed made from the finest materials known to man.Its lined with the finest silk and specially padded with the finest softest Pashmina as not to scratch the extremely delicate 904L S.steel.Plus it has a built in winder to gently rock my Rolex watches to sleep and keep its heart ticking at a constant 28800BPH. Plus the added feature of thermostatically heat humidity and air conditioned controlled to the COSC standard. Its fully Programmed to lull my Rolex to sleep when off my wrist, with soothing ticking and whale sounds to help it drift into a place of peace and Rolex tranquillity.
Afraid the Rolex bed is at the moment a very secret proto type but will be taking orders soon once I have it it full production price expected to be $300 -$500 owing to winder expense as these winders are special COSC certified motor ones.. But in the real world a Rolex is just a watch and does not care how the watch is left to rest off wrist flat, downside up, crown up or downsideup while off the wrist or the need for a special resting cloth. And in different resting positions perhaps a difference of one or two seconds at most out of 86400 in a day life's to short to worry about resting positions, resting cloths, or special boxes .But the most important thing is when you wake up and you can see your watch is still ticking that shows you are still alive and well to enjoy another day of wearing your Rolex watch that's far more important I can assure you.

Face up for the most part, but mostly because I like to look at the dial when I'm not wearing it

Wow, there are some hilarious replies in this thread.
I just throw mine onto my bedside table. I guess if I was passed out on concrete or something, I'd just leave it on, but I generally don't worry about it. |
