I would ask your self a question and be honest. Will you feel comfortable wearing a Yellow gold watch all the time. I for example have had a couple of TT's in my life which I really enjoyed at the time but honestly now my life is much more casual and SS suits my current life style so much better. I think the BLNR with PCL's fills the bill on all accounts it can be casual or dressy - Y/G with diamonds pretty much only goes one way and its not casual :-)

Apples and oranges. BLNR more for the younger crowd and DD if you're older than 40.

If you're ok with Gold, DD all day, every day, and twice on Sunday.
That would be my choice. (Though not with diamonds.)
If you're worried about 36mm, don't be. Put it on, stop wearing you're Panerai, etc. and in a week you won't be thinking it's too small anymore. It's all about what you're used to. Unless you've got the wrist of a giant or Mr. Universe bodybuilder, 36 is fine for a man.

I'd go for a DD, but not that one with diamonds

If you go for one on an alligator strap it'd much more wearable in a daily context and fair heft off the price

What? This is crazy. The BLNR may be hot, sure, but it is nowhere near a DD.

Day Date, every time. I don't click on random links so I am not sure which DD you're talking about but I wouldn't give it up over ANY BLNR.

If it were me, I would go for the DD! If it's your first and only Rolex for a while, you should get the gold one. They can be had at a good bargain nowadays. Also they haven't changed the look of the 36mm so more credits to you
My vote for the PRESIDENT!!!

It is a link to a TRF listing. Here is a picture of it. I too LOVE the DD and would pick it any day over the BLNR, however I have to like the configuration. Are you sure you would choose this DD over a BLNR?

Didn't realize it was a link to a TRF listing.

That dial... Yeah, BLNR. Lol

Lots of great comments and insight here, thanks all! I'm still really torn but feel like I should go with the DD (most likely not the watch previously linked). Either way I will keep you all posted!

I like the looks of the dial on this DD. If you can see yourself wearing it, then it seems like a nice choice. The GMT would be a more practical for daily wear and you could wear without worry. Have you tried on both watches for fit and feel?

I would say split the difference and get a 16710 GMT with all three bezel inserts.

Other than that, I'd probably go DD, but with the regular stick dial.

I would say the President is a retirement gift watch. BLNR all the way.
