Congrats. Buy a $10 (or less) screwdriver and do it yourself.

lack of training probably not only on basic sales skills but product knowledge as well. Its the managers fault for not training his sale reps properly. Treat everyone the same is basic sales knowledge, I know people worth 50 million that shop at target and wear 10 dollar watches, then I know people with $500.00 to their name who go out get a credit card and buy all expensive clothes, cars, watches just to feel successful.
I read a few pages of this thread and you didn't mention what state or AD you were dealing with. |

Historically I would only buy from AD's.
No longer. Two deals with David SW and for me it's now a no brainer. We live in a rude society. Period. I have never been made to feel uncomfortable in an AD but I don't like being sized up and swarmed. I don't like overly pushy sales tactics with overly inquisitive questions. These days if I venture in to and AD it's merely to browse. Did so last week on Rodeo Drive while in LA. They had a new Air King. Tried it on. Wore small and didn't like the 3-6-9. But that perhaps is for another thread. They were very nice to me. |

I have bought all my Rolex on cargo shorts and Flip flops at ADs. I've had everything from very nice salesmen to they wouldn't even let me in and stopped by the guard.

I know a guy worth millions, he doesn't wear shoes half the time and drives a beat up red neck looking Jeep. He has a nice new 911 parked in a crappy barn and chickens running around.
I also know someone who works in a pizza / bar and waitresses will ignore some folks because of their appearance...thinking small tip..but it's actually just the opposite. |

I don't know how Rolex dealers pay their salesmen but from years in the car business this sounds like 1. They make money off of financing ( far easier to negotiate and sell warranties when someone is talking small numbers like monthly payments) and there may have been a bonus on an old stock watch they needed to sell.
If you were being pushed toward a specific it that you never expressed interest in and are being pushed to finance something it's more than likely due to the salesman's pay. When I came up in sales, our dealership was across the street from a cattle auction. I learned really quick that the dirtier the farmer was, was the one who just got through selling the most cows. Dirt old man looking at a truck meant $$$$ for me. Other salesman wouldn't even get up. |
