RG YM 116655 Bezel Alignment Fix
Hey all,
There's a particular preowned Rose Gold Yachtmaster 116655 that I'm interested in getting. The watch is still under warranty. It's come to my attention that the bezel does not align perfectly centered. I believe the potential deal to be a good one, from a very trusted "trusted seller", so I'd love to make it work somehow. Please, this is not meant to be a debate on whether the alignment is something that would or should bother you. I can tell you it will bother me and it's something I would get fixed at RSC. My question: does anyone know what is involved in fixing it and how long it would take? Is it a wait in the lobby type of fix or send the watch away for several weeks type of fix? If it's a quick fix I might just pull the trigger and deal with the bezel when I have a little time. Thank you all in advance! Side note: some of you may have heard me mention I had my LVC bezel realigned at RSC under warranty. This is true, but I had the work done almost 2 years ago and the watch was sent in to RSC for a totally different reason, so I have no knowledge of what's involved in getting it fixed obviously. |

First, I would double check if it really does not align. If so, it is a very simple adjustment, takes a few minutes.

Sorry, I'm no help but I'm kind of curious about this as well. I feel like my LVC's bezel has a touch too much play and was wondering if that can be fixed at the RSC and if so, how long the job usually takes.

My 2 cents, go for another watch. It's at least a service at rsc.

My guess would be that's not an over the counter fix at the local RSC.

Agreed it's not easy to get the cermaic bezel off. Comparatively a non cermaic you can use a butter knife.

There have been a few posts on the bezel alignment threads where people have had their alignment fixed under warranty at RSC. Not sure of timing, though. I would be bothered by it, too, but it's an awesome watch and if it's a good deal I wouldn't let it stop me. Especially if I lived in NY like you and could just walk into an RSC. Wouldn't have to deal with shipping at all.
There is a fair amount of play between the 120 clicks in the ceramic sub bezel mechanism, so I bet yours is normal. If I play with mine it can be anywhere from a hair shy of perfect alignment to a hair past perfect alignment. When I rotate the bezel and stop it on the 12, it usually ends up in the middle and perfectly aligned. But I often find it rotated back into the locked position and thus a hair short. So is it misaligned or not? I honestly have no idea. |
