Something well-worn:)
I know many of you can look at your Rolexes with pride and remember where each and every scratch came from. You keep it clean as much as possible, but you know deep-down that it is for your daily use, anything less would require a place in a museum behind plate glass.
I take pleasure in knowing that other things which I have purchased in the past will take on a character of their own, also. A quality well-worn pen, for example; or an antique cigar case passed down to me from my grandfather. Perhaps its that old set of Pings you cannot part with after 18 years and countless rounds of golf; a favorite road bike you take out daily, logging on 20-30 miles before work, which might show wear and tear, but she still feels as good to you as she did the day you bought her. This list is but a few other possessions of mine that are well-worn but bring me pleasure in that "worn state." What's on your list? |

I wear the two watches I inherited from my dad. A tank style 40's Hamilton, and a SS Benrus wristalarm from the 50's. I also use fountain pens, and drive an original 1961 VW Beetle a couple of times a week. My custom 1987 Harley Softail will do anything required, and looks nicer than the newer ones with the blacked out engines and the $25,000 price tags. I detest quartz watches for anything except cutting the grass, and the vast majority of my watches are restored Hamiltons, and Bulova's. Even my Speedy Pro is a 145.022 cal 861, along with his older brother a MKII. Even my Rollies are from the mid 80's. Sometimes I think I'm turning into my father, which wouldn't be a bad thing!!

I have an Omega Seamaster chrono Pro that was given to me by a US Ambassador in the mid 90's.
It's been beat on many battle fields, I can honestly say that this is the toughest watch I've ever had/seen. If this watch could talk... I've retired it 4 months ago, whenever I look at a nick and a scratch I can almost see how it happened. |

I love watching items become "mine" over time. When you buy something new it's just like everyone else's but after time it becomes yours. Every mark, scratch or stain has a story. I just wish I knew how I get half the scratches on my watches. Oh well, they are there and they make it mine.

Jeans. They fit so much better when they've been broken in.

Rob that is super that you have that. My dad was Seiko man so not much to leave behind, but I've got my Grandpa's Hamilton pocket watch somewhere. Need to find it.
