rolex 34mm date

Can anyone help me out? Should a Rolex with a date always have written somewhere on the dial the word date? Please let me know. I have a 34mm Rolex with a date feature that reads Rolex at 12 and Precision at 6! What do you make of this?

I think that there are a number of early models that do not say "date" on the dial.

got a model number.. ?

It's an oysterdate. From your description, it sounds fine. Any pics?

Scott. If you could go to page 3 of forum you will see a couple of pictures. It is listed as " my very first Rollie" I appreciate your help. Let me know what you think of the markings on the dial, and your opinion of the watch in general! Thanks again.

What are the markings on the dial below the 6:00 marker, Swiss or T Swiss T. Seems odd to me that the hands have lume and the dial does not. Also, according to what I have been able to find, this should be a SS watch, not TT. Furthermore, I have not been able to find a dial that does not say Oysterdate under the Rolex name at 12:00, but I will admit that OD's are not my focus in vintage Rolex.

It may already be an aftermarket dial. I would suggest doing a search on ebay and look for Oyserdate dials. Again, I could be totally wrong as far as the writing on the dial and, to be honest, Rolex dials have always had slight variations based on the manufacturer. The lack of any luminous markers on a "T Swiss T" dial is concerning me. The T stands for tritium, the lume used on older watches, usually when you see that written on the dial, there are little dots of lume at the top of the markers. Your dial should read "Swiss" as there is no lume, but your hands should not have lume either, yours does. Hands & dial are paired together. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could get this watch back original, it may cost more than it's worth though.
