Setting GMT II

Just picked up my GMT II yesterday and I'm confused about setting the GMT hand. If I set the green hand to GMT, which is 4 hours ahead of my local EDT, will the date indicator roll over according to the green hand (GMT) or my local time zone?

Set the GMT hand first to the zone you want, then jump the hour hand to your local time and you're all set.

So do most of you guys keep other hand set to GMT and then use the bezel for variations? Or do you set your GMT hand to a specific secondary time zone?

I'm not great at setting mine lol.

However I stop mine when the second hand reaches 12, then set the GMT hand to UK GMT time, and the minute hand to the the next 5 minute marker of current time. I then use the quick set hour to move the hour hand to current hour time and date. Then when the actual time (from an iPhone app I have) matches my watch, I push the crown in starting it. This gets me perfect time sets.

Does this make any sense? Lol

conrats. i set the 24hr hand to gmt and use the bezel for variations, its surprisingly easy to read and use.

I keep the 24 hr hand to local time. When I travel I move the hour hand to the timezone in the state / country where I am.

Being in the UK I have the GMT hand to UK time and the normal time to UK time too.

However when I travel to the USA I set the watch time to local USA time and GMT hand will always tell me the time at home.

This means that both hands show my home time when home. When I travel to other timezones the GMT hand shows my home time and the hour hand shows local time wherever I am.

For me, the GMT (24 hour) hand is set on home time and 12 hour hand on local time. I admit I had to find a good video on setting the watch the first time.

I do this as well and turn the bezel to show GMT for no particular reason--out of respect for tradition, perhaps.

No, I don't need to know GMT.

But you can set the "GMT" hand to other time zones than GMT.

I keep my GMT on GMT. I set the bezel To indicate various time zones as needed. I keep the hour hand set to the time zone I am currently in.

When I am home, I set the GMT time to our overseas office and the hour hand to my time zone.

When I travel, I set GMT to home and hour to local.

Of course you can.

I was just replying to a poster asking about setting that hand to GMT. It just makes most simple sense to keep it set to home time and adjust the hour hand when you travel.
