My Very First Rollie
My first Rolex. It dates to 1977 according to the numbers on the case between the lugs. I was told that it is a 6694, 1225calibre. The watch measures 34mm without crown. All of the other precision watches with a date aperture that I have seen are marked on the dial Rolex oysterdate near the 12 on the dial with the word Precision near the 6. Please enlighten me as to if this looks correct. Please offer anything else that you can. thanks

I have a brochure from 1979 and the 6694/0 is listed as an Oysterdate 100% waterproof to 50m/165 feet. Also states it is manual winding with 17 jewels. The watch in the booklet does not have the fluted bezel. The price for the steel version on 15th October 1979 was £223 with a leather strap and £257 with the Oyster bracelet. The picture does indeed show Oysterdate in the position you mentioned and the watch illustrated has a blue face. Enjoy your new purchase.

Looks great and congratulations! I'm wondering if that's a variant of the current Date model?
