First Rolex - What to do?

Waiting to purchase first rolex. Have been on a waiting list for BLNR for 6 months now and they still can't say when it will arrive. Should I opt for a 116710LN and not have to wait?

Imagine a year from now... do you think there's any possibility of regret?

I think I prefer the BLNR. Although I do like the simplicity of the all black bezel. I have been saving up for over a year and now that that part is out of the way I am getting a bit impatient..

I read a study that said it takes the average person one year from the initial desire to finally purchase a Rolex. Waiting a year and still have no idea when the watch will be in stock....., expand your search radius to other ADs ...if that fails .... I agree that you absolutely will need to evaluate if you love everything about the 116710LN

Really comes down to what you want. I love the LN myself, dig the green accent color. The BLNR certainly has all the hype and I admit it does look pretty cool, but I think I'd eventually tire of the blue/black bezel as it's just never been a color scheme I've loved.

But it has to be what you really want and if that's the BLNR then I think you should investigate alternative means of getting one.

if the BLNR is the one you want, you should wait for that one. also if you have no money down on deposit, go elsewhere.

Never choose the alternative because the most beloved one is always deeply imbedded in your mind. I believe you will find a good way to get a stunning BLNR sooner or later.

Don't buy something else just for ease. It will eat at you if you don't get the one you have set your mind on.

Try other AD in a much wider area. One will pop up for sure.

It's a tough one in Aus and UK as unless you put a deposit down with a time limit you don't know what the AD is really up to and when your name will be called. If you feel you can trust him and it will be a few more months then wait, if not I'd look elsewhere.

I'm a retired cop. When I was a rookie, I got tired of breaking watches. I saved up for about a year and bought a Rolex Oyster (no date) at an AD in the Caribbean for 900 dollars. About seven years later I sold it for 400 dollars more than I paid for it. I was hooked. What other consumer product can you actually make money on after you've used it for seven years? I learned everything I could about Rolex and the other major brands. my everyday watch now is a blue Submariner. Now I always buy them pre-owned, but only from very reputable dealers or enthusiasts on this site. My advise would be to wait for the watch you want to become available, remember it's a jungle out there for used Rolexes, it's just not worth it letting a bad deal sour you on watch collecting. BLNR looks better IMO but it's not as versatile. Rolex in general are upscale casual watches, but the batman is more casual than the standard GMT imo. If you want an all around sport watch that will look great in a tank top and flip flops and a suit, get the standard gmt.

Wait for the BLNR as it is what you have your heart already set on. You might try some dialogue with the AD to see where you stand and what could be done if anything. You don't want to be pushy or desperate, but if you play it in a polite diplomatic way then you might get it sooner. Also they may sense you could go to another AD, which you should do anyway to open up your options in a discreet manner. Good luck. Cheers!

I've owned both and actually preferred the LN. I realize I'm in the minority here.

It's whatever you prefer and as others have said, if your heart is set on the BLNR, you'd better stick with that.
