ALS chrono 1815 (black dial)

Whoa

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/a-...ith-black-dial

What's everyone think of this bad boy. I think I may be in love. I tried a time only 1815 in 38.5mm and it didn't last long. Their lugs are long and the watch wears larger than specs IMHO. So this one is +1mm so I'm not sure will work for me. None the less, stunning. I have admired the Patek 5170 from afar but I think this is even better (and cheaper)

Pics and comments from current owners (any version) would be great.

I like it...not as much as the white/silver dial of the 1st series (better legibility, smaller sub dials, more color contrast) but it's certainly a nice watch. Honestly, I wish they went blue or grey. With all of that said, it's a very nice watch, I'd bet it will sell well

Too small for me--41mm would have been ideal.

But for those who like the smaller size will love this. I applaud ALS for issuing this piece--looks nice.

Thanks for the pic. Is that from one of your dealers? I called an AD, 2018 expected they said.

Surprisingly thin at 10.8mm. Every ALS I try seem to be slightly thicker than I would like for a given design.

I came very very close adding the up/down a couple of weeks ago.

I loved the way the sub dials didn't really "nibble" into the Arabic numerals on the dial.

Why then at a watch at this price point did they "nibble" into the numerals?

Just leave them off.....

They are stunning watches, however it is my slight niggle I have with a few brands...they seem to make the dial and then just add sub dials....if you get what I mean?

Hey we are all different.......that's just me.

As a lover of chronographs, the 1815 Chronograph is my grail watch. Actually would prefer it over the Datograph, as it is thinner and a "purer" expression of a chronograph. The addition of the date window, while it is Lange's iconic digital display, is not as meaningful to me, especially for a manual wound watch that will likely only be worn occasionally.

exactly ,this one is a stellar piece i hope will see one in flesh soon , my oly concern is the huge hit in $ if you need to sell an ALS .

this

for me, had this been 41 it would give the Dato some competition for me on my wish list as the price point is much more attractive.

I already have a first series 1815 Chronograph which is the same size, and have a 7 3/4" wrist. The watch fits just fine and doesn't need to be sized to fit food on it.

How is thus different from 1815 boutique other than colour?

Pricing wise....getting preowned 5170 versus this new????

Not much, they increased power reserve to 60h compared for first generation but I don't know if the boutique also has that upgrade.

I think this one would be materially cheaper than 5170 preowned but I am assuming discount on nib for the Lange. Not sure if pricing will be firm at release or not. I do know Lange not great on exit.

Same price as the Boutique edition but this one is available at ADs as well so more chances to get better discount.

With the EUR tax refund and likely 15% discount on top, a new one can be had at usd 40k at best case therefore a pre-owned 5170 will be still usd 5-10k more expensive?
