I couldn't resist, I took your advice and went to go check out a Panamera Turbo. Apparently the Turbo S variant has an e-hybrid system kind of like the 918 and won't be available until the end of the year. I test drove it and.... I'm speechless. One of the concerns I had going into it, was the lack of power when compared to the RS7 seeing as it has 50 fewer hp give or take. However, the steering on the Panamera turbo is 1000x better than the Audi. That's the part that really stuck with me. Also it doesn't feel slower at all, they feel about on par seeing as the Panamera is a much lighter car. However, the price difference is crazy. A base model Panamera turbo is about the same as the fully loaded RS7. The one I looked at was 36k more than the fully loaded RS7. So the question now is, is it 36k better than the RS7 which is already phenomenal.

P.S. I love how I started looking for a sub 80k car and now I'm considering a 180k car. Thanks guys

M3 ---> Panamera Turbo is an impressive jump

FWIW, if can afford it go for the Porsche. A more rewarding drive than the Audi imho (no offence to RS owners).

If you were going to make the jump from the M to anything else -- I would forget the Audi and get the Porsche.

Where did all the RS fans go my bank account depends on you I'm currently trying to source a nice Turbo, trying to find one in the right spec. I'm tired of driving my truck, I want something exciting again.

Of the two I prefer the Audi but as a fellow U.K. resident know steering is far more important here than 50bhp...if it's as good as you say it is then I think the choice is obvious.

Would it be worth it to wait for the e-hybrid? That seems like the more interesting car to me.

I'm on the fence on this one. You know how I feel about the RS.

But that new panamera is pretty incredible. Also a lot more $$$$.

I'd likely stick with the RS.

Personally - I feel like the matte Gray RS7 you specced out doesnt hold a candle to the new panamera looks. Panamera looks soft and bulbous to me (personal opinion of course). I like the much sharper lines in the RS body - from the headlights, taillights to overall shape. The new Panamera in fact to me looks softer and more 'luxury' then the previous panamera.

The RS for whatever its worth also feels more 'youthful' and 'sporty' to me. Not to say that the panamera is an old persons car in any way - but audis RS cars have a certain 'sports' panage that the panny turbo cannot match. All this can be a pro or a con depending on what you are going for.

I cannot argue on the tech - as obv the panamera is latest and greatest on that. I do enjoy the more 'spartan' interior on the RS. Can't comment on the steering either.

The RS currently has TONS of aftermarket support for the car if you at all inclined. Tunes, sway bars, exhausts etc. I'm not sure where the new panameras stand on that.

Last - Despite the SEVERE difference in price new -- in 2 years these cars will be more or less the same price. The panamera turbo depreciates SIGNIFICANTLY more vs the RS (if thats a concern at all).

I was for the longest time considering the previous versions of the Panamera vs the RS - and driver ergonomics, overall 'numbness' of the car (turbo), and the ho-hum soft looks eventually swayed me towards the RS. I had significant seat time in the previous turbo and and no way found it an 'exciting' drive - again can be all different with the new one.

It also helped that my previous Audis all had stellar reliability.

Let us know what you decide - its a tough choice and def can't go wrong with either.

Maybe we need another reminder of that gorgeous front end ??

Honestly if I was driving around a big metro like London I would be happy with a 4S, but clearly youre shooting for more muscle so I digress.

Test drove a C63S this week.

Might as well throw my license out the window.

I saw a regular C63 when I picked up my wife's C43. I was in love.

Just yesterday on the road I saw a matte C63s. It was friggin stunning. I turned off the news, lowered my windows and enjoyed the exhaust note.

Wow. What a car.

Have you considered the panamera gts? I haven't driven the newest panamera iterations yet, but I preferred the older gts over the turbo.

Same here but unfortunately I don't believe it's been released yet. Also who knows if the awesome NA v8 is out the window. That engine and exhaust was sick!

I prefer the M3 in every aspect except the horrible exhaust note. I have yet to hear an aftermarket exhausts that can fix it.
