Should I flip my new Airking 116900
I purchased a new Airking 116900 and am still unsure whether to keep it or change it for an Explorer or similar ?
I'd like to get the forums view on the new Airking as I'm still uncertain what to do. Your comments would be appreciated on this please? |

If you want the lume on 3-6-9 markers, you have to change new AK to new Explorer.

I quite like it. The colour makes it look different from some others. Why don't you wear for a while and see if it grows on you.
Otherwise, yes the explorer would be a reasonable change. But your choice should be based on what you like. you would probably drop a couple of quid flipping, but if you get what you want/are comfortable with out of it then is probably worth it. |

I wouldn't flip it. The air king is a nice piece. It's unique. You don't see that watch in the wild. It's also the only Rolex that has the original rolex logo colors on it. Keep it and enjoy it. You can always trade it for an explorer later if you really wanted to. But I wouldn't.

I know the new ak is polarizing, but I think it's very cool for what it is, and may be collectible someday. The yellow crown and green text are a departure for Rolex, and may be extremely desireable someday. Explorer 1 is very cool but has a noticeably smaller wrist presence, and a more serious/formal dial. It truely could be a shorts and suits watch. The air king on the other hand is a piece you put on knowing you are having a casual day, looking for some fun.

Of those two, I much prefer the EXP. But, that's me...

If you don't like it, why keep it? I would change it for something you will enjoy. If that be an explorer then be it. I would look at some of the SS sport models.

I personally like the AK.
I also think the Explorer I is a little plain. I do understand not many around will agree and I will acknowledge that it is a Rolex classic, but just a little to plain for me.

Wasn't comfortable for me as it sat too high on the wrist. It's a thick n hefty case.

You may want to consider a DJ as they are slimmer by comparison. Not sure about the Explorer

Keep the AK, add Explorer, Sub, or DJ41 later. 2 Rolexes better than 1.

I'm not a fan of the Air King personally, its a little too playful for me. The Explorer on the other hand is a classic and very versatile. You must have had a reason for purchasing the Air King though, so if you like it I would keep it. It is definitely unique and a lot less common than other models.

If I were you, the next watch purchase you really have to be sure you want to buy it
When I got my bluesy, I tried it on around 35-40 times over around 3 months before I got it |

Back on track, OP think very carefully and don't do anything too hasty. I decided several months ago that I was bored of my BLNR and decided to market it for sale. I was offered tidy money for it but didn't go through with the sale. I've been wearing it this week for the first time in almost two months and I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed it. Put your AK away for a month and if you don't miss it then flip

What exactly are you unsure about? That would help other members in providing you a more thoughtful response. Right now, you're just getting opinions based on member's personal tastes. Yours will likely differ.

AK never did it for me. But I would have never bought it in the first place.
Flip it :) |

Explorer 1 or 2 ?. No advantage buying the Explorer 1 unless you just like it more.

Yep agree 100%. If your going to flip for an explorer 1 I wouldnt - your flipping it for a very similar watch and you will probably flip that again in a few months. Explorer 2 though for sure over the AK.
