Yellow Gold Purchase Advice
Was asked which sport YG Rolex would be a best first PM model to start with. Options were a Daytona (green dial), a Sub with blue dial, a GMT or YM2.
Thanks My vote was Daytona. |

Sub/blue dial is a stunning yellow gold timepiece. I recommend it. I would own it if my kids were out of college. (Or a DD, or a YG sky Dweller lol)

Depends on functions and dial colour, I've owned 3 of those as gold models and the Blue Subc is my fave.

I don't own one, but if I did it, would be the 116618. That Sunburst Blue Dial is stunning.

For gold go with a 36mm day date. You won't regret it. For some sporty flash get a TT bluesy, it rocks. Just my opinion and I am biased as that's what I did. Do what YOU want to do....
Cheers!

I think size might have a lot to do with choice. The YM2 wears very different than a Daytona with Sub and GMT in the middle in my experience.

"A best first PM model to start with" is the one you like the most. Isn't that kind of obvious?
It's not like one is objectively "better" than the rest.

I would go with the PM Submariner-C. I like the 116618 LB with the Sunburst dial. Great watch.

I'd recommend picking a specific model first then think about the metal.

In PM, I tend to prefer the sub and GMT over the Daytona or YM2.
The Daytona bezel marks up so easily it just breaks my heart to wear it, and I wear my watches. The YM2 is perhaps the most visually stunning, however, it is at such an awkward size that I found getting a decent fit almost impossible. As far as the sub and GMT...pretty much a toss up IMO. For me, it would be the sub in YG and GMT in WG. |

i'm expecting delivery soon on my first full gold piece - decided to go with a perennial classic, YG DD36, silver dial with older stick indices.
my JLC reverso grande ultra thin in rose gold was my first try at this precious metal. by design, i went with a strapped piece that was also small enough to not warrant a lot of attention. the gold has grown on me for sure, thus my desire to try a full bracelet piece. the DD was my first and only choice because it is small enough and will forever be a classic...will never go out of style. |

The YM II is straight up Baller. It has a ton of wrist presence but it got old on me quite quickly.
Sub LB or Daytona would be my pick. |
