Crazy Trade Rumors

So I thought I was going to leave my collection alone for a bit but having four time pieces to me means one watch doesn't get equally worn. The GMT TT I have as my weekend watch I think I want it to be full YG. To do that I would have to trade both my Daytona WG 116509 and my GMT 116713 for either a YG DD40 with Black Dial, Daytona 116508 YG with Black Dial or GMTc in YG with Black Dial.

Would you trade two watches for one YG or not?

As long as it didn't leave me with the YG as a one and only......I'd do the trade

I love that WG daytona, and feel like any move to YG would be a lateral move. I would have a hard time giving up a WG model AND a TT one just to move into a YG piece.

I'd be more inclined to trade the other 3 all in for a YG piece (my preference would be the DD), and keep the WG daytona, but I guess only you know how much you wear each one.

I hear you. The thing is I love having the Blue YM and would only give it up if I had another blue dial. As much as I love the Daytona stealth I sometimes find myself missing the date when I wear it to work. If I were to choose a YG Daytona I would wear it on the weekend so Date wouldn't matter much and maybe make it convenient to set it and go but the DD40 is the President. Insanity I know.

I would not trade the WG Daytona and a GMT for a YG Daytona . If the YG really speaks to you look for an older model YG Yachtmaster that is complete. They can be had in the 13-15K range. I would think that you could do a trade straight for the WG Daytona and some cash back your way. I might do a trade for the TT GMT and the DJ for the YG Yachtmaster with you adding some cash.

You have SS, SS/Pt, TT and WG really well covered.

I couldn't part with any of those but then I have never sold or traded a watch.

I would ADD a YG model - a DD 40 and I like Romans/white dial/smooth bezel.

It could be a long wait.

If you must flip I chose the first of your options.

That empty slot will drive you to drink lol.

If the plan is to add another down the road, sure! I would.

LMAO are we addicts or what!! But you're right!!

In my head I would probably get a GMTC LN or a Daytona 500 (if they become readily available at or below MSRP) in the future.

I am a fan of the YG Sub, but the GMT received my vote for this poll. Good luck deciding!

I think your collection is great. You should keep the 4 styles you have: GMT, DJ, YM, Daytona

You could do any of those YG:

If GMT:
Trade TT and WG Daytona then add YG GMT and steel Daytona (pre ceramic or ceramic for retail)

If DD:
Flip DJ and WG Daytona then add YG DD and steel Daytona

If Daytona:
Flip WG Daytona and add YG Daytona Oysterflex, it's stunning in person.

Good luck!

I would trade the 3 SS and get the YG GMTc or YG Subc for some blue. This and your WG Daytona make a formidable pair. Or flip that for the WG Daytona Blue dial.

Add a SS down the line if you really have to... (you probably won't )

Blue is more vibrant on my Subc, so you can trade into it.

not a fan of your combinations (and not a fan of the gmt, and in tt even more, at all)
I'd buy a 116508 with PN dial, or the new WG Oysterflex ;)

full WG + TT for one YG sounds like you're getting screwed royally on the trade. Sell the WG and add like $2-3k for the YG. Then sell the TT and pocket the cash.

Agreed. The trade proposed is awful for you. Don't do it.

YG Daytonas and WG Daytonas aren't that much different in value.

$2k should put you there preowned vs preowned.

I would advise against trading preowned vs new in this case as you will take an epic beating.

I agree I would be careful. This is when dealers get the upper hand. You buy new you sell/trade wholesale prices. If it was me I would flick the gmt two tone and white gold daytona for an all gold gmt or sub like others have mentioned. (I I voted for gold gmt) Then maybe I would trade the yachtmaster for a black 114060, 116610, 116710LN. Then that way you have a pure tool watch that's not flashy for the occasion that the gold watch is a no go. So depending on the gold watch you do get, you get either a steel gmt if it's a gold sub or a steel sub if it's a gold gmt. In the end I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Only do what your gut is telling you.

I personally wear a 116718 green dial on a daily basis and its probably my favorite watch. I've owned the 116509 (same color combo as yours) and to be honest theres something special about a yellow gold watch. Bump for NYC!

I see what you both mean. Luckily I bought both watches preowned from TS's here so the loss is not huge. The GMT which most people are voting for and I do love the brushed gold would be easier because finding a preowned GMT is relatively easy. So I could trade the WG Daytona and YG GMT more or less straight up and like you said sell the TT separately and pocket that cash. The DD40 and Daytona 116508 are both newer and I'm finding it harder to find them preowned. So I'm seeing like $25K for BNIB and for that the trade may break me even unless I sell my watches privately which is probably smarter being that I have box and papers for both watches. Decisions decisions!

I would...but I wouldn't trade the Daytona.

I would rather trade the GMT plus the YM or the DJ and throw in more cash. That way you have two stunning gold pieces. And my vote is for the 116718, by the way.

And...as we've learned on TRF, 2 is better than 1.

Trade your TT GMT and DJ plus cash for the YG DD.

Keep the YM and WG Daytona.
