buying a datograph, pricing?

Hello everyone, i am trying to get a datograph and was just wondering if anyone in the know would be able to point me in the right direction as to what is a decent discount to ask for? i know that this is usually a hush hush topic that people don't feel comfortable discussing but i've bought rolexes and pateks from my AD with decent discounts that i'm very happy with, but my regular AD does not carry ALS. Just want to know ball park what is normally accepted discount for the dato up/down plat if anyone has any info. feel free to PM me as well if you don't want to reveal yourself

I am sure some current and past Datograph owners will chime in about pricing.

But from what I hear, the Datagraph loses a lot of value if you get it from an AD, even with a decent discount.

It is a great looking watch though!

Work off 20-25% being relatively easy to attain, but 30% is the minimum if you are remotely concerned about not taking a hammering should you decide to sell it within 12-18 months.
If you were planning on keeping it for longer, then the difference against the lower discount could be viewed as the cost of renting it for the period of ownership.
The alternative is to just buy it pre-owned.

I'd spring for a like new example but I'm cheap.

Either way, congrats in advance. A true grail watch.

Great watch and you'll love it.

Resale is terrible on them in general, so get a nice minty used one at a bargain.

Look forward to incoming.

You will love the watch, but as others have said, buy right. You should probably shoot for 25%-30% from an AD if you must buy new. Otherwise, look for a gently pre owned model

I was able to get a RG Lange Datograph Up/Down for about 27-28% off from a grey dealer but watch was new from an AD so full warranty.

Grey dealer expect 20% off, every ad varies there's only one boutique in Dubai that's direct with ALS so they're tighter than ADs on discounts can't give you a rough estimate.

Its a bit like the 5170....you take an immediate hiding....so if you not going to flip then who really cares...wear it for ever...but I think 25% is a minimum

A great looking watch and have owned several over the years. I will say that even if you get 30% off you will still get hammered on resale. So buy right and best buying a used mint one as Paul said above.

I agree that you really do take a hit moving them- try to buy right and find a piece that you're going to love for a long time!!!
