Design wise, 44 is in a class of it’s own...probably the best looking high-end oversize sports watch IMO. If you put a ceramic bezel and rectangular pushers on a 42, it looks kinda strange. Again, not so much about wrist size (unless you have super skinny wrist and tiny arms) but the overall appearance of carrying a 44 is what really matters.

Hi all, new owner of a 42mm 'navy' here. I really do think both 42mm and 44mm are as beautiful in their own right. My wrist is only 6.5" but i do find the 44mm wear more comfortable. Unfortunately I'm not rich enough to up the dollar for just a wider case size and ceramic bezel given the fact that both are using the same movement. That being said I don't think 42mm are inferior. This is my first AP and i hope it can be a keeper

I thought that 44mm ti looks great on you! But then again it’s your own liking that is more important

Have a great day ahead

I bought a BNIB 42mm ROO a year and a half ago. Kept it for about 6 months. It looks to be about $1000 more now than I paid not even two years ago.

Nice! You must have bought smart. All I see in your signature is rolex and Pam so I'm not sure which model. If you don't mind me asking what model is it that you speak about?

I actually sold the panerai too and DD40 also, so my signature is a little outdated.

But the AP ROO that I had was the "Elephant" 26470ST.OO.A104CR.01. I think I paid a little over $18k. Today They seem to be going for $19k+. It was an amazing watch. I know the current prices cause I'm constantly considering adding it back to my collection. At the time I was a little discouraged from AP in general because of the service & warranty issues. That ROO I had went to APSC 3 times in those first 6 months. Ultimately the watch was perfect and functioning properly, but I had a bad taste in my mouth from the way things went down with AP. So I got rid of it. No regrets, but I do miss it.

My biggest fear with my incoming AP is having to ship it off for few weeks at a time. What kind of issues did you run into?

AP have a rules: If the watch are defects 3 time in guarantee they change the watch!
I think you don't know that. I was in the same situation and sell the watch too!

+1

My RG 44 had and an issue within the first three months and now its back and fixed. Even if i had known this was going to happen before I bought it, i still would have bought it anyway. Its that nice. They all break at one point or another, if they didn't there would be no need to ever service a watch.

Things happen sometimes, but its the only issue i have had with any of the four AP's i have bought.

Chose the watch I wanted because it played to me like a grand symphony. There are no worries here, only discussions to expectations as to not being caught by surprise!

With reputable brands the problem are a really small amount compared to their output
You have to be really Lucky or Unlucky in this case to run into a problematic piece.

I don't see 42mm pricing dropping, do you have any concrete examples of this?

No evidence that shows consistency throughout the resale value dropping, just something I noticed among certain pieces when looking around random marketplaces is all, which is why I put it up for discussion to see whether it was moreso true or false.

If they're older pieces then their value will be less than newer, and discontinued pieces will also generally drop more (i.e. rubber clad etc.), but on pieces like the Diver, Panda etc I don't see any softness.

In your mirror picture the 44mm looks fine on you. What are you talking about? Some of the people here make no sense. Do you guys really think the 2mm makes THAT big a difference? If the 44mm doesn't fit you, the 42mm doesn't fit you either. Go get the 37mm ladies royal oak then. Already people on this forum are buying the 37mm RO. Even the pushers don't make that big a difference.

In the real world it is at least 5 6 mm difference lug to lug and that can make huge difference when 42 is borderline to big.

But at the end of the day it is how do you like it on your wrist.

True. First & second pic looks quite huge ...37 might be a better fit. My wife wears that size and looks gorgeous

wrist shots always look huge. the mirror shot looks pretty good. Its supposed to be big so you can probably get away with it. If a regular Royal oak fit like that i would say its too big as it isn't supposed to be oversized.

Yes, mirror shot looks OK on you, sure it wears big on you but not too big and this is an AP ROO after all not an old school Calatrava.
