Do you wear SUBs, as a dress watch?
Hey folk,
For those of you who have Subs or any other Rolex diver, do you wear them as a dress watch with suit and tie or buttoned shirt? It seems to me that Rolex divers are really starting to be a jewelry rather then a sport/tool watch. don't get me wrong guys, I think they are absolutely great looking! what do you guys think about it? cheers! |

Not me, I would feel out of place wearing a sports watch with a suit.

I also wear it with everything (other than black tie). With a suit everyday, surfing, diving, camping whatever.

I wear my sub at the office but we're business casual.
I wear my Seiko divers and my Orient diver at the office, but we're business casual. I personally don't wear any diver with a suit and tie.

That's so cool to hear! did you buy it new? I am quite afraid to get my explorer wet even though it should be fine, and also terrified to take it to the gym

Yes fine with a suit. Would I wear to a black tie event? No.

I've worn my YG to the gym and for tennis and to fancy dinners and afternoon teas, it's very versatile. I'd wear my LVc to all the above.

I have a GMT with PCL's and all black bezel. I think it goes with suit/tie just fine.
But, I agree a DJ is dressier. |

I wear my DSSD with everything. Easily fits under shirt cuffs. Goes with shorts or tux.

I don't own a Sub, but my GMT has the same oyster case and a similar look. Absolutely I'll wear it when dressed in suit/tux

If Prince William wears one to a black tie event, I think it’s pretty safe for the rest of us.

To the OP, before I became a cop, I was a captain in a 5-Star restaurant and I wore a tuxedo everyday. I also wore my GMT everyday.

Yes, but not as a "dress" watch. I wear my Subs with everything. That is one of the reasons I dig Subs, you can wear them with just about anything and for just about any activity.
I do not wear suits as much as I once did. I rarely attend formal events. At one point, I had a dedicated dress watch to wear with formal attire, but at this juncture in my life there really is not reason to own a true dress watch. Do not get me wrong, I love a nice dress watch, but the expense is not worth it for something I might wear a couple times a year. So for a business suit I will wear a Sub and if I am going to a really formal function I can go without a watch or wear an old 2 hand museum Movado.

Can you?..of course. Would I?..never in a million years.
I don't own a Submariner but have a Seamaster, a Sinn 203 Arktis and other dive style watches. A dive watch is not a dress watch but the idea that any watch is ever a bad choice is unpopular. It's not the best choice so as long as I own others I'll pick something simpler or at least less toolish when in a suit. It's like tennis shoes with a suit in my mind. Yes, they are shoes but not the best choice with a suit. I don't stick to the only wear pure dress watches with a suit concept and will wear my Milgauss with a suit, but a big bold numbered bezel is not my idea of something that pairs well with a suit just because it's expensive. |

If an imaginary James Bond could do it then it must be right. Actually, I'd wear what ever watch I felt like. Likely something a bit fancier but I wouldn't exclude it especially if it is your only watch.
