Watch Warranty cards / Papers
Hi
I was curious as to how most watch companies kept track of their warranties and how these were validated. I know Rolex uses an electronic system and I believe Hublot does as well? But otherwise how do other companies actually tell if a warranty card is legitimate or not? Say you have an empty warranty card? Or a card stamped but not dated or named? How do all of these differ in terms of validity? Thank you Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I’d say it depends who it looking at it, what policy is, and what kind of day that person is having.
My wife has a dj 36 new in 2016. When we bought it, at our request, the European ad swapped the oyster bracelet for a jubilee. About a year later we noticed an issue with a spot under the cyclops. I used the local ad who we have a relationship with to send it in. We gave them the watch and warranty card. Papers filled out, dated, and signed by us. About a week later, the Rolex sc contacted the local ad and requested the original receipt. We obviously had it and provided it, but it doesn’t seem like they would have accepted the warranty claim without it. |

What electronic system does Rolex use? When I bought my DSSD Deep Blue last year from the Rolex AD in Dubai - I got the warranty card stamped and dated by hand. And the original invoice. That was it. |

What exactly that does still seems unclear. I've heard that it activates the warranty and I've also heard that it's just to let Rolex know that a watch has been sold for store inventory purposes. The information on the card itself is still written by hand. |

Happened to me too. The NYCRSC will ask for the bill of sale on any watch in for warranty work from an overseas AD. They play by their own set of rules.
