...okay guys...here for discussion, is a pic of a folding clasp that bears the "EXTRA" Rolex Crown on the folding clasp (located lower right).

...I am of the opinion that these are aftermarket/counterfeit.

...what say the forum members???

There have definately been bands counterfeited with that small extra crown on the inside of the band clasp as I believe we have seen some posted here on the forum. The scrollwork on this band appears dissimiliar to that found on most 1980's - 1990's vintage bands but is consistant with what I've seen before on another band with the small crown which I believe was genuine based on its age, condition, font and stampings. I've only noticed this small crown stamping on the Jubilee bands where the link is flat on the bottom, which would be found on the 1980 and newer bands. It would be nice to know the history or background of these bands and why it appears on very few examples of the Jubilee bands. It probably has something to do with the manufacturer.

...I have actually had 3 OYSTER bands with this same marking. Purchased them from a fella in Australia years ago, NOS, and I got a refund because the listings did NOT show the extra little crown in the pic's nor were they described in the text of the listing as such.

...those 3 were the ONLY Oysters I have seen...period. MOST prevalent, as few as there are to be found, are the Jub's.

...MORE comments everyone!! Also, WHY would Rolex have placed ANOTHER crown on the clasp, especially independent of the Coronet????

...this most RECENT post is either counterfeit or mix-matched buckle/clasp. The folding clasp should have then been something more than just the 62510 H stamping....shd have been 62510 D, M, or H and then the 14 or 18 respectively.

I had a similiar band to this one examined today by two experts at Rolex and my suspicions were correct. The band is genuine as Rolex did manufacture (or thru their contractors) Jubilee bands that contained the small Rolex coronet in the lower right hand corner on the inside of the clasp.

The band depicted by Tudorman in this thread appears 100% genuine, although, as I mentioned earlier, it has been counterfeited in the past as evidenced on this forum and others. This band goes back to the '70's, so it was probably one of the earliest bands counterfeited. I'll be posting another thread regarding this band with some close-up photos and additional info.
