Do you ever take a break from the forum?
I have half dozen hobbies I’m pretty passionate about and they all kind of rotate from one to the next and back again depending in my current interest level. So do you ever take a break from the forum and just enjoy your watches without worrying about the latest Rolex craze the latest price increase what the greys are doing etc..?
I’m back from a recent hiatus as I was in one of my audiofile moods. Anyways it’s nice to back! Happy new year. |

I'm in the business, so I at least lurk once a day. Trying to suck up any knowledge I can. But, sometimes when things get really busy, I find it hard to even check a notification! In the early 2000's I used to be on a few forums and I think I almost lived there. Seems like forums are not as popular anymore since Facebook came around. I miss those days though.

Yes! They email you when a giveaway is going on. Love you guys but I sometimes work 80 hours a week and never less than 40 so that interferes with my internet time. Especially during flu season.

Happy New Year! Welcome back also It's nice having several hobbies (as do I) but watches have always been #1 / most consistent with me. The forum is essentially my escape in many ways.

In 7 years of reading this site, the longest break is maybe a week? Maybe longer? Couldn’t say. Ive been on here every day for a long while now.

I have before. Planning on another one soon.
I am actually in the process of developing my own little website for a hobby. Once it is complete and ready for beta testing, I am going to have to fill it with content. So I expect to be busy doing that.

For almost 3 years I took a break. I was hired by a large oil and gas company and I was very busy. I didn't have a time for a hobby or even checking TRF. I resumed this activity in 2012-13 when I quit working for them.

I am staggered by some of the post counts, I really am,
I mean how do you get to over 50000 posts? What is there to say to warrant that many?lol. I think I once managed 2000 some years ago on another forum, but I was really fishing for things to post by then. |

As the forum degrades into a show off car forum my interest decreases. Thanks for the ignore feature at least.

I come here to learn and talk about watches, among other subjects in the open discussion forum.
I just try to realize what my priorities are, and not everyone has a gold sub, or AP, or PP even though it seems that way here. I could see how a break would be beneficial for some people. |

People get high post counts by posting brilliant platitudes such as the meaningless "awesome" when someone posts an "incoming" thread, seeking affirmation for the multi-thousand $ buy. Then there are the "hey look at my...." posts regarding their boat, lounge chair, toenail clipper etc.
The core of the forum is composed of a few dozen "big shots" who form the clique and you will never break into that. People come and people go, and the core just remains, fawning over each other. Maybe you can glean some info here but you sure need your waders and a vaccine against abuse. I firmly believe that someone's first post is often just as meaningful as another's 50,000th. |

x3, took a hiatus afterwards because I was fairly embarrassed.
now my girlfriend refers to me looking at watches as "porn". we were sitting in the middle of the living room on Christmas and she tells me to stop looking at porn and socialize in front of the whole family. Someone commented "he got the good stuff?" she replied, he's looking at watches again. I looked at her, smiled and said yes, she has nothing to worry about, I don't look at porn. she responds, I'd rather you did, it's cheaper so no TRF for me in her presence anymore that will change once I replace my phone for the 3rd or 4th time in the past month -.- |

Why so angry? You are in a forum dedicated to luxury items. It makes sense that people would post pictures and talk about their luxury items. That’s kind of what makes it fun. No?
