Smooth Bezel Datejust Research

Hi, I am hoping someone might be able to provide me a link or reference where I can determine all the Datejust reference #'s that originally came with a smooth bezel?

I have done quite a few google & TRF searches and I cannot find a comprehensive list breaking out the various bezel combos.

I am in search for a smooth bezel DJ with Oyster, preferably with a 1981 serial #. I understand the 16000 is probably what I need to look for but am open to earlier models as well, as long as they have a smooth bezel and oyster.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only earlier one I know of is the 1600. I have been looking for one myself.

And I agree that they look the best on an oyster bracelet. The 1600 can take either a 7836 with 258/358 end links, or a solid link 78360 with 558 end links.

Agreed!

This is my goal right here. Pic borrowed from the web.

Keep in mind that bezels are interchangeable. I have a 1603 with an authentic Rolex smooth bezel installed by LAWW. I switch between a Jubilee and Oyster, so combined with the switching of the bezels, there are several combos you can easily put together for different looks. The smooth bezels are (relatively) easy to source separately.

Looks great on a simple leather strap too.

Love the 1600 and agree it looks best with an Oyster bracelet. Here's mine from around 1969 on a 7836.

Awesome pics guys. Are you aware of any websites dedicated to the Datejust with reference #’s and the details on the various configurations over the years?
