4 yrs ago i bought a sub and my friend got a projection tv and he said i was crazy
(4 yrs ago)
Story goes like this, hd tv's were still new to the market and he got a 56 inch or so projection TV, and said that I was basically stupid for spending so much money on a TV. I told him that its something that can be passed on to my son when he grows up and they held their value really well. Well he kept on insisting that his purchase was the best. Well 4 yrs and some months later, he sold his TV last week for 600 dollars and was floored when I told him about what he had said and broke the news to him about the 3 price increases in the past 4yrs and if i wanted to sell it I would get about what I payed for it. He had the stupidest blank look on his face and we went about or video game marathon that night.the next day I told my wife and she gave me a pad on the back and said to me " good job" Him= Loser Me= Winner |

Well done,
With technology items you never buy the definitive article, its almost out of date by the time you get it home |

I totally agree. Not all watches appreciate, but they can be passed down throughout the generations.

When Plasma technology was introduced for the first time around 8 years ago I think, flat screen Plasmas were retailing for a ridiculous NZ$25K. Today you can get one for around NZ$1.5K - 42". If you'd purchased a Rolex Sub 8 years ago, you would make a nice profit on its resale today!! JJ

Newly introduced consumer electronics and technology items generally sell for pretty high prices when they are introduced to the market. As the market becomes more mature, the prices drop, and generally, more and more new features become available. You saw it with HDTV's, but it is true with PC's, IPOD's, cell phones, digital cameras, GPS units etc, etc.
A Rolex is definitely a better investment over time ! Quote:
