I just moved to what our current CIC would call a s$&thole, so it's rare for me to see something nice. I think those of you who see these often should be grateful to live in better locations.

Everything is relative, a sub is definitely understated luxury that is copied like no other model.

See them all the time in nyc. Specially the knockoffs being sold on the streets.

Most common watch I see in nyc (other than the Apple watch).

I see 2-4 confirmed sightings in Manhattan a month and probably a 6 half dozen "not-sures" or homages, its not always easy to confirm.

When I see posts like "subs are everywhere," I can't help but think of my 8 year old little girl who regularly speaks in absolutes. "My teacher always screams at my class" even though I know for fact that's not remotely close to accurate. For me, I live in Wisconsin so it's a rare, rare occasion I see a Sub or any Rolex for that matter. I used to live and work in one of the wealthiest communities in the US and I spend two months every year on vacation in another and I see more Subs than in Wisconsin, but not that much more relatively speaking. I see cell phones and automobiles everywhere, but not Subs.

Yeah I don’t see many here, either...so it depends on where you live, too. It’s a great watch in an area like this because you won’t see them much. I lived in Chicago when I sold mine many years ago...they are pretty common there. |

I've lived and worked in Silicon Valley at multiple companies for the last 14 years. I'm trying to think of the last time I saw any developer, designer, product manager, etc. wearing a Submariner and I can't.
I did see one guy wearing an Oyster Perpetual a few months ago. Seen a number of Apple Watches, and a few Nixons, Fossils and Citizens. And my dentist wears an Omega Speedmaster. But no Subs. |

I know it’s nonsense but I’m actually embarrassed to wear my 14060M. 20% of people at work wear one, and 100% of the time I’m out for lunch I see one. Just not a fan of the attention or to be honest, the stereotype of a guy who’s new to watches and buys a black Sub. I actually haven’t really seen my Sub for 2 years, been in the bank this whole time. Has sentimental values as my first Rolex back during undergrad, so hanging on to it for that.

They are certainly common , i guess it depends on where you are. If you live in LA or New York, probably going to be very common. I hardly ever see one where i am at. I did see a BLRO at lunch today. It’s the only one i have seen in public. I can’t walk 10 feet without seeing an Apple Watch however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Part of the Sub’s allure is their ubiquity and that of their doppelgängers.
Many Rolex owners wish to simultaneously blend in and also have a luxury watch. |

I live on an island in Florida. When I go to off island to the bagel shop for coffee I frequently sit with 4-6 other guys that are "regulars". On any given day, at least 3 Subs are being worn by long term owners. Probably not the case at a bagel shop in North Dakota.

That’s another reason I sold mine years ago....it’s the go-to watch that some people get just to say they have a Rolex (talking about the basic black dial SS). Plus, there are 20 other companies who make ones that look just like the Sub.
It’s a beautiful watch but I just felt I wanted to be a little more exclusive if I’m dropping $10k (especially when Rolex has some other great options). |

i don't spend time looking at other peoples watches when they are on their wrists, only my own, so i don't notice these things....
If I did, I'm sure I would see one once and a while... |

I wonder how many are actually Subs though?
I mean I looked at companies like Steinhart and bought the Ocean One 39mm because I wanted to see if I liked the Submariner style... I do, thus I sold it. (great resale value on Steinhart. I made 20 euros) When I was in this process, I was trying to find the best copy I could and there are literally thousands. I think there was one called an Ocean Rover... but it was too expensive for me for a copy... but it looked identical. So my question is, I wonder how many people think they see Submariners but is it the real deal? Or another brand? |

Location, location. I see 5-10 Submariners (all varieties) per day on the Las Vegas Strip, but can go two weeks between a spotting in North Carolina.

Definitely the most common here in Ohio. I see them on a daily basis along with a Daytona or two.
Other than that, it’s pretty far and few between for other models. |

Really - prob the reason I have no attraction to a standard 6 digit.
