What is this (purported) 1930s square Rolex?

During a watch club meeting, someone asked me if I knew anything about the watch pictured below, such as the model name. It is purportedly from the 1930s and 17 jewels. Poking around with Google searches has not revealed anything. Can anyone tell me anything about this watch?

never seen such a piece

Would need to see case and the movement

Dial is definitely redone ( or non original)

I think it is legit with, redone dial as mentioned previously.
But would need to see movement and case signature to be sure.

The serial numbers he probably looked at were for oyster cased watches, which this is not.
So, date may be off.

Here is a fairly similar watch
https://www.watchcentre.com/product/...atch-4573/4283

These models typically did not have a name.

+1. I think it's legit too. I would go a step further and request better pictures of the dial, as the dial and the hands are perfect for the period. Most likely a redial, but I need to see a picture of the dial outside of the case. I would expect to see 'precision' above the sub seconds and 'swiss' below. Yet, Rolex was known to do strange stuff at that time.
